Danny Suied raised under the gun, Kunal Patel called UTG+1, and Sam Ho reraised from the big blind to 28,000. Suied moved all in for about 120,000, and Patel folded.

Suied turned over AsKh, and he needed to improve to stay alive against Ho’s AhAd.

The board came 6s5s3s8cKc — Suied flopped a spade flush draw and paired his king on the river, but it wasn’t enough to catch Ho’s aces. Suied was eliminated as Ho catapulted up the leaderboard to more than 400K.

Players Remaining: 183 of 847

The field returned from a 15-minute break to begin Level 13, with blinds at 1,500/3,000 and a 500 ante. With 183 players remaining, the average chip stack is about 139,000 (46 big blinds).

The final 150 players will finish in the money, guaranteed at least $7,500 each. The Money Bubble should burst before the next break.

After a flop of AsQd10d, Alex Venovski was all in for 53,000 with AhQh (two pair, aces and queens), and needed his hand to hold to stay alive against the small blind’s Ac10c (two pair, aces and tens).

The turn was the 7h, the river was the 5d, and Venovski won the pot with his two pair to double up in chips.

Alex Venovski  –  137,000  (57 bb)

A few moments later at the next table, Andy Hwang raised UTG+1 to 5,300, the player in the hijack called, and Esther Taylor-Brady (aka “Etay”) reraised from the small blind to 21,000. Hwang tanked for a while before he folded, and the hijack called.

The flop came 8c7h5d, Taylor-Brady checked, the hijack bet 15,000, and Taylor-Brady check-raised to more than 100,000. The hijack folded, and Taylor-Brady won the pot to cross the 300K mark.

Championship Day 2: Roman Valerstein Rivers Two Pair

SHRPO $5 Million GTD Championship
Level 12: 1,200/2,400 with a 400 ante
Players Remaining: 207 of 847

Adam Friedman raised from the cutoff to 5,500, the player on the button called, and Roman Valerstein called from the big blind. The flop came 9d8h4c, Valerstein checked, and Friedman bet 6,000. The button folded, and Valerstein called.

The turn card was the 5s, and both players checked.

The river card was the 10c, and Valerstein tanked for a while before betting 17,500. Friedman quickly called, and Valerstein turned over 10h9s to win the pot with a rivered two pair, tens and nines. Friedman looks frustrated as he mucked, implying that he may have been ahead until the river.

After the hand, the player on the button said to Friedman, “If you don’t bet there, I take all the money. I told this guy [next][to][me] I had pocket fives before it came out.”

Roman Valerstein  –  230,000  (96 bb)
Adam Friedman  –  105,000  (44 bb)

Championship Day 2: Randy Bogen Adds to His Big Stack

Randy Bogen and his opponent both checked to the turn on a board of Ac5h2s8cQs. His opponent checked, Bogen bet, and his opponent check-raised. Bogen moved all in, and his opponent called with Ah10d for a pair of aces. But Bogen turned over 8h8d for a set of eights, and his opponent was drawing dead.

The meaningless river card was the Qs, and Bogen won the pot to eliminate his opponent and get closer to the chip lead.

Randy Bogen  –  275,000  (138 bb)

Darryll Fish was all in from the button with Ax6x, and he needed to improve to stay alive against Kurt Lichtman’s 8d8c in the cutoff.

The board came Ad8c3d2d9d, and Lichtman flopped a set of eights to win the pot and eliminate Fish from the tournament. (Though as you can see by his tweet below, Fish plans to play in Event 23, the $1 Million Guaranteed $2,650 Freezeout NLHE, which begins at 2:00 pm.)

Championship Day 2: Jim Carroll Runs Into Aces

SHRPO $5 Million GTD Championship
Level 11: 1,000/2,000 with a 300 ante
Players Remaining: 270 of 847

Jim Carroll raised from middle position to 5,000, his opponent moved all in from middle position for 35,600, and Carroll asked for an exact count and went into the tank, asking if his opponent woke up with a big hand.

Carroll eventually called with KsQd, and winced when his opponent turned over AhAd.

The board came 9s4c2h9d2c, and the pocket aces held up to win the pot, doubling the short stack thru Carroll.
