Brian Altman

Event 20 of the 2019 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown, was an $1,100 Six-Max NLH (Single Re-Entry). There was a guaranteed prize pool of $100,000 which was easily shattered, as 232 entries generated a prize pool of $225,040. A familiar name outlasted the rest, as Brian Altman captured his second event of the series, winning outright for $48,890.

“These one-day events – I feel like I do a good job adapting to the different players at the table,” Altman said afterward. “I’m able to accumulate a lot of chips that way.”

For Altman, it is his fifth time winning an SHRP trophy. In addition to this win and his win a few days ago in Event 13, Altman won a $570 NLH at the 2018 Showdown, an $1,100 NLH at the 2017 SHRPO and the Lucky Hearts Championship event in 2015.

“(My endurance) is probably better than most people’s, but I still feel the effects of fatigue. It’s 5 a.m. right now and I’m exhausted and definitely looking forward to bed. If I had a choice I wouldn’t be playing super long hours or super long sessions, but that’s the nature of tournaments and sometimes you’ve got to play for 10-12 hours for many days in a row, so you’ve got to have that endurance and you have to be mentally tough.”

Winning isn’t supposed to be easy, but Altman doesn’t mind making a habit of it.

“It feels great to get another win, I’m very happy.”
