Brian Hastings opened the button to 10,000, and Raffaello Locatelli three-bet to 24,000 in the big blind. Hastings called.

The flop was KsJc5h. Locatelli stacked up 30,000 chips, put his hand behind the bet, then paused and checked. Hastings bet 17,000.

“You’re opening a restaurant?” Locatelli asked as he considered.

“A tea shop,” Hastings corrected him. With that, Locatelli called.

The turn was the 8d, and Locatelli led for 40,000. Hastings called. The river was the 2h, putting two pair on board. Locatelli checked, and Hastings moved all in for about 105,000. Locatelli had about 110,000 chips left in front of him, so the decision essentially represented his tournament life. He folded after just  few seconds, and Hastings tabled JsTh as the dealer pushed him the pot.

A conversation followed, during which Locatelli dodged disclosing the contents of his hand and Hastings tried to explain where it went wrong for his opponent. “I got a Christmas gift idea for you,” Hastings said at one point. “Mike Caro’s Book of Tells. There’s another one by Joe Navarro too.”

Brian Hastings – 273,000 (68 bb)
Raffaello Locatelli – 110,000 (28 bb)
