Late last night here at the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open, Mark Dube won Event #11, and Gabriel Ramos won Event #12. Tonight, they both made the final table of Event #16 ($360 Pot-Limit Omaha Six-Max). In fact, four of the final five players in this event were also at final tables last night — Dube, Ramos, Dewey Raines, and Manuel Suarez.
Though he started the seven-handed final table as the short stack with just 10 big blinds, it was Mark Dube who emerged victorious tonight, winning his second SHRPO trophy in two nights — without any deals.
One of the most crucial hands for Dube came early at the final table when he was still short-stacked. “I think I only had about 50,000 at that point. And I got aces in versus kings and flopped quad aces. So that was good. Obviously if I lose that, I’m out.”
Dewey Raines, who finished third behind Dube last night in Event #11, held the chip lead for most of this final table, but Dube won a huge pot when there were three players left to take a big lead. Gabriel Ramos was eliminated a few minutes later, and then Dube defeated Raines heads-up.
These are the first two titles Dube has won here at the Seminole Hard Rock, though he has come close a couple of times, including a runner-up finish in the 2015 WPT Lucky Hearts Poker Open, where he earned $434,462.
Asked to describe his back-to-back victories, Dube said, “It feels good. It’s definitely unexpected. Pretty much everything’s been going my way again for the second night in a row.”
There are two more one-day events tomorrow (Thursday) — $2,200 Eight-Handed No-Limit Hold’em, and the $300 CSOP Charity Event. Can Mark Dube win three titles in three days? Return to SHRPO.com to find out.
