David Prociak

Event 6 was the only non-Hold’em game on the Seminole Hard Rock WSOPC schedule and the $365 Pot Limit Omaha tournament had a talented group of players. After dominating much of the tournament, former Seminole Hard Rock Poker Player of the year David Prociak picked up his first WSOPC ring along with more than $14,000.

By the time the registration period closed, there were 181 entries in the game including SHRP champs, WSOPC ring owners, and WSOP bracelet winners. The prize pool climbed to $54,300 with the last 21 players splitting it up.

The tournament played down towards the money bubble late in the day and the slid into the money shortly before bagging chips for Day 2. Prociak had a big lead late and added even more with a double knockout of John Alegria and Kindah Sakkal on one of the last hands of Day 1.

There were 16 players remaining at the start of Day 2 and they were down to the final table ten in less than two hours. Prociak continued to lead at the start of the final table and extended it as he sent several players off in succession.

The biggest hand saw him make quads against Daren Stabinski’s full house to get the tournament down to three-handed. Six-time WSOPC champ John Holley was the short stack and went out in third as Jon Borenstein, playing his first ever PLO tournament, took a big lead going into heads-up play.

Prociak’s brief release of the lead did not last long and he soon doubled against Borenstein to take a small advantage. Two hands later, Prociak called a big four-bet from Borenstein, flopped bottom two against kings, and finished off a strong run with a WSOPC ring.

“I’m going to lose money on this deal,” Prociak joked.

“My girlfriend let me come down to play,” he continued, “As long as I bought her a car if I won.”

Prociak specializes in Pot Limit Omaha games and owns two PLO trophies from the 2017 Seminole Hard Rock Lucky Hearts Poker Open and another from the 2016 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open. He earned his first WSOP bracelet in 2016 when he captured the $1,500 Stud/8 title.

Now the 2016 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Player of the Year has a World Series of Poker Circuit ring to go along with his bracelet and mantle full of SHRP trophies.
