$5,250 SHRPO Championship $3 Million Guaranteed | Payouts Level 21: 10,000/20,000 with a 3,000 ante Players Remaining: 30 of 887
Cards are in the air on Day 3 at the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Championship. The final 30 players return to blinds of 10,000-20,000 with a 3,000 ante for the first 60-minute level of the day. They will march down to a final table of nine today. Shuffle up and deal!
$2,650 No Limit Hold’em (Freeze-Out) $1,000,000 Guaranteed | Payouts Level 15: 1,500/3,000 with a 500 ante Players Remaining: 69 of 395
Big 4 Freeze-Out players made the grind through 14 levels last night and only 69 of the starting 395 players are still around with a chance at the title. They are all aiming for a piece of the $1,000,000 prize pool and the top payout of more than $200,000.
Seminole Hard Rock Poker regular Nigel Murray returns with the lead and the only player over 300,000. The top ten is full of tough players including 2015 WSOP Ladies Champion Jacquelyn Scott, Seminole Hard Rock Poker team member Faraz Jaka, 2016 SHRPO Champion Jason Koon, and former HPT Player of the Year Aaron Massey going for a Big 4 final table in back-to-back years.
They still have a little work to get done this afternoon before they begin cashing checks. Of those 69 returning players, only 52 will walk away with some money and we should hit the bubble before too long.
It will be another long day for the Freeze-Out players. They need to whittle the field down to the final table before their night will be complete. Those nine players will return tomorrow to play out the final table in the Hard Rock Live Arena in front of the Poker Night in America cameras.
Cards go back in the air at noon and we will track all of their action.
$25,500 Big 4 High Roller $2,000,000 Guaranteed | Structure Level 1: 400/800 with a 100 ante
The last of the Big 4 events is set to kick off and it will be a big one. The High Roller event will have a smaller field but not one lacking for talent.
The $25,500 buy-in tournament has a $2 Million Guarantee, second biggest of the series behind only the Championship, and it will attract some of the best players in the world. Last year’s champion, two-time WPT champ Marvin Rettenmaier, had to go through 105 entries to get to the title including a tough, long final table.
We expect Rettenmaier back to defend and a room full of great poker.
Players will start with 100,000 stacks and play 40-minute levels throughout the opening day. Those levels will switch to 60 minutes on the final table tomorrow afternoon. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the start of Level 10 at 7:30 p.m. following the dinner break. They are scheduled to play down to the final table eight to be played out tomorrow in the Hard Rock Live Arena in front of the live-streamed cameras.
It is a busy day in SHRPO land and the High Roller will push up big numbers.

$5,250 SHRPO Championship $3 Million Guaranteed | Payouts Returning to Level 21: 10,000/20,000 with a 3,000 ante Players Remaining: 30 of 887
The 2017 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Championship continues at noon with Day 3. The starting field of 887 entries is down to just 30 players, each looking to capture the top prize of $754,083.
Leading the way into Day 3 is two-time WPT champion Aaron Mermelstein with 2,706,000. A plethora of notables remain, including Adam Levy (1,960,000), Matt Berkey (1,795,000), David Sands (1,044,000), Glenn Becker (1,029,000), Day 1 chip leader Diana Shirey (923,000), David Diaz (788,000), Scott Clements (776,000), Joe Kuether (615,000), Luke Brereton (569,000), Shannon Shorr (506,000), and Joel Harwood (291,000).
Becker is still in the hunt for SHRP Player of the Year, while Kuether has a chance to lock up a second seat at a final table in The Big 4, having already made the final table in the $1,100 NLH Re-Entry.
Levels will continue to be 60 minutes until 27 players remain. From there, levels will be increased to 90 minutes. That will carry over into the final table tomorrow, and levels will be reduced back to 60 minutes once heads-up play is reached.
Speaking of the final table, today’s remaining field of 30 will be playing down to nine players, at which point the official final table will be set for the spotlight event of The Big 4.
Here are the seating assignments and chip counts to begin Day 3:
$2,650 No Limit Hold’em (Freeze-Out) $1,000,000 Guaranteed | Payouts Returning to Level 15: 1,500/3,000 with a 500 ante Players Remaining: 69 of 395
Day 1 is complete in the $2,650 freeze-out event, the third of the Big 4 events on the docket. Cards went in the air at 2 p.m. this afternoon, and by the time registration closed, a field of 395 entries had gathered.
That turnout generated a slight overlay on the $1 million guarantee. The final 52 players will share that prize pool, with $204,600 of it reserved for the winner.
The field pushed through 14 levels of action before bagging up with 70 survivors around 1:30 a.m.
Nigel Murray leads the way with 341,000 chips. Murray won Event 2 here last week, and he’s made a few deep runs in the interim, too. He’ll be the man setting the pace when Day 2 begins.
Birthday boy Jason Koon finished near the top with 220,500, as did Aaron Massey (221,000) and Jackie Scott (228,500). Seminole Hard Rock Poker Team members Faraz Jaka also advanced to Day 2 with 178,500 chips.
They and the rest of the survivors will return to action Monday to play down to a final table of nine. Cards go in the air at 12 p.m.

Stacy Matuson had no interest in returning for Day 2 with her short stack of 16,800, and she announced she was all in dark from early position. Jason Koon called from the button to put her at risk.
“I hope you were (all in dark),” he said. “Because I’m gambling with you.”

The board ran out , and Koon won the pot with two pair. Matuson was eliminated on the last hand of the night.
The final few hands are complete at each table, and the survivors are in the process of bagging up their chips for the overnight soak. A recap of the day’s action will follow, along with the chip counts and seat draw for Day 2.
Koon will be among the big stacks in that list.
