Nick Petrangelo Wins $2,200 No Limit Hold'em Eight-Max
Nick Petrangelo Wins $2,200 No Limit Hold’em Eight-Max

Nick Petrangelo already has a long list of poker accomplishments as a regular in the high stakes tournament world. He adds another trophy to his name after besting a field of 191 players in the $2,200 No Limit Hold’em Eight-Max event on Thursday evening.

The 28-year-old poker pro already has over $4 million in tournament earnings over his career and adds another $93,208 to his name after beating Kou Vana heads-up for the trophy.

Petrangelo can be found in big buy-in events around the world and is coming off of a second place finish at the $100,000 WPT Alpha8 Las Vegas at the end of last year for a seven-figure score. He also won his first World Series of Poker bracelet last May in the $3,000 No Limit Hold’em Shootout event for $201,812.

With the $3,500 WPT Main Event starting tomorrow afternoon and the $10,000 WPT Finale and the $25,000 High-Roller Turbo event coming up as well, it’s likely Petrangelo will make his way into those fields as well.

“This was like a good satellite to win,” joked Petrangelo about his upcoming tournament buy-in expenses.

With this being the last event before the main event starts, there was a lot of top-tier pros in the field and Petrangelo had to navigate through one of the tougher fields of the series thus far.

The final table featured a slew of other bracelet winners and WPT champions. Petrangelo came into the final table near the top of the chip counts and never really seemed to falter.

The turning point for Petrangelo seemed to be when he doubled through David Malka during three-handed play. After doubling up, He took a fairly sizable chip lead on Malka and Vana and didn’t seem to lose many pots after that.

Here is a look at the final table results:
