Event 4 Champion Soheb Porandarwala

Hollywood, Fla. (January 17, 2017) – Event 4 of the 2017 Lucky Hearts Poker Open, a $570 Six-Max No Limit Hold’em (Single Re-Entry) , drew a field of 165 entries and generated a prize pool of $82,500. After about 10 hours of play, a deal was reached between the final five players. Soheb Porandarwala was the big chip leader entering the final table and was still on top of the counts when numbers were agreed upon, giving him the officially victory.

Residing in Norwalk, Connecticut, the 26-year-old father of 2 has now amassed more than $360,000 is career tournament winnings. This was only Porandarwala’s second trip to the Seminole Hard Rock, as he prefers to play locally in the northeast.

“I don’t travel much for poker. I guess that’s kind of an anomaly these days, but I wanted to be somewhere warmer than back home,” said Porandarwala. “My family and I were in India recently, and my wife and kids are still there. I didn’t really want to go back to Connecticut without them, so I figured I would come here and visit some friends. I knew the series was going on, so I figured I would play in a few events.”

That decision certainly paid off with his victory tonight, and he’ll be back at it tomorrow in Event 5.

“I’ll play in the Pot-Limit Omaha (Event 5) tomorrow and try to go back to back, and I’ll also play the Main Event. Then my family will be returning from India and I’ll be back home with them.”

Howard Mash

It didn’t take long for Event 4 to reach its $50,000 guaranteed prize pool and begin growing it bigger. They hit 100 entries in Level 3 and each new one will run it higher.

We’ve witnessed several players already making their way to the rail, including Dmitiry Agrachov and Steven Richardson, but SHRP regular Howard Mash is among those grinding. He has a nice track record around the state, including back-to-back Coco Poker Open titles in 2015, but is still looking for his first title here.

The midweek morning start hasn’t kept the players away from today’s new tournament. They are halfway to hitting the $50,000 guaranteed prize pool as they roll into the second level of the day and we expect to hit it before too long.

We see a lot of familiar getting in the action early including Frankie Flowers, Stuart Greenbaum, and 2015 WSOP November Niner Neil Blumenfield with more coming into the ballroom later this afternoon.
