Bob Bounahra raised to 1,300 from early position and gets called by Martin Finger in the small blind and the player in the big blind.

They were three-handed to a flop of Ac4d3c and all three players checked to the Jc turn card.

Finer led out for 3,100, the big blind called, and Bounahra folded. The river was the Ts and Finger led out for 6,500. The big blind quickly called and Finger showed 3s3h, good for bottom set.

The big blind mucked his hand and Finger took the pot.

Martin Finger – 79,000

Championship: Ray Qartomy Bluffs Off Most of it, Flips For the Rest

$3,500 WPT Showdown Championship (Re-Entry)
Level 7: 250/500 with a 75 Ante
Entries: 1,072

Ray Qartomy limped in from early position, Patrick Eskandar did the same a couple seats over, and Tim West joined on the button. From the small blind, Joseph Cappello three-bet to 2,250. Fermin Micheo called in the big blind, and the three limpers called the remainder to create a five-way pot.

All five players checked through the Qc9h2d flop, and the turn was the Ah. The blinds checked, and Qartomy bet 4,300. Everyone folded except for Micheo, who called to see the river. It was the Jc, and Micheo led out for 8,000 of his own. Qartomy raised to 22,000, which was most of his remaining stack. Micheo called, Qartomy just mucked, and Micheo showed Ad9h for two pair as the dealer pushed him the pot.

A few hands later, Qartomy moved all in for his last 2,450 behind a few limps. The first limper, Tim West, re-shoved for 19,350, and that got him heads-up with Qartomy and flipping for the knockout.

Qartomy: 6h8h
West: 3h3s

Qartomy’s plight improved on every street, but he could not get over the hump on the 9s7s2d7d7h run-out. West ended with sevens full, eliminating Qartomy with one level left in the re-entry period.

Fermin Micheo – 115,000
Tim West – 24,500
Ray Qartomy – Eliminated

There was about 23,000 in the pot heading to the 6d turn card and Raghavan moved all in for 33,275, which sends Young into the tank. After several minutes of thought, Young tosses his hand into the muck.

Raghavan mucked his hand and took the pot. There was a little discussion after the hand among the players, but they couldn’t come to a consensus on what Raghavan’s holding was.

Justin Young – 38,000

Championship: (The Other) Mike Sexton Takes From Andy Spears

$3,500 WPT Showdown Championship (Re-Entry)
Level 7: 250/500 with a 75 Ante
Entries: 1,030

There are two players named Mike Sexton in the field this evening.

One of them is the Poker Hall of Famer and the voice of the World Poker Tour, who has more than $6.5 million in career tournament earnings and a stack of about 51,000 chips at the moment.

Mike Sexton (Las Vegas, NV)

The other is a local grinder who is seated across the room at Table 48, where he was recently involved in a multi-way pot. It began with him limping under the gun, and Andy Spears did the same a couple seats over. The button raised to 2,100, the small blind called, and Sexton and Spears both called the remainder to see a four-way flop.

It came Ts6h5s. The small blind checked, and Sexton led out for 3,600. Only Spears called, so it was heads up to the 8c turn. Sexton bet 6,500, and Spears called again. The river was the Kh, and Sexton emptied the clip with one last bet of 10,000. Spears didn’t seem to love it, but he shook his head, shrugged, and called.

“King?” Sexton half-asked. A dissatisfied nod from Spears indicated it was likely good, so Sexton showed KsJs to win the pot with a pair of kings.

Mike Sexton (Coral Springs, FL)

“Other” Mike Sexton now has more chips than his Hall of Fame namesake.

Mike Sexton – 70,000
Andy Spears – 17,500

Championship: Cliff Josephy Puts Darryll Fish to the Test

$3,500 WPT Showdown Championship
Level 6: 200/400 with a 50 ante
Entries: 995

On a flop of Ad8c5s, Cliff Josephy checked from middle position and Team SHRP member Darryll Fish bet 2,000 on the button.

Josephy called and the turn was the Js. Josephy checked and Fish bet 4,400. Josephy quickly moved all in for effectively Fish’s remaining 20,000 behind.

That sent Fish into the tank for about five minutes. The table was silent throughout the whole tank before finally tossing his hand into the muck just a few minutes before dinner break. Josephy quickly mucked his hand and took the pot.

Cliff Josephy – 54,500
Darryll Fish – 18,500
