Event 6 Day 1D: Eric Beller and Michael Henin Out Front

$250,000 Guarantee | Structure
Level 4: 150/300 with a 50 ante
Flight D Entries: 169

Eric Beller

Flight D players returned from the first break and they’ve already created the biggest of the four starting flights. The 169 entries also pushed the Event 6 prize pool over $300,000 with more than two hours remaining to register.

We found two huge stacks in the room while they were gone. Eric Beller and Michael Henin each pushed their 20,000 starting stack over 70,000 with neither far from 80,000. That’s a good start to their day but they have a lot of poker in front of them before bagging after Level 14.

Top stacks:

Eric Beller – 79,000 (263 bb)
Michael Henin – 76,000 (253 bb)
Elilton Gouvein – 63,825 (213 bb)
Dennis O’Connor – 56,000 (187 bb)
George Hortland – 50,000 (167 bb)

Chris Nomikos

The Flight C chip leader was still in doubt up until the very last hands with Chris Nomikos, Emile Shiff, and Steven Bennett were near the top, but Nomikos locked it up with a big KO of Brian Wilson.

Nomikos put 298,500 in his bag with is also good enough for the overall chip lead with Flight D still pending. Aaron Massey, Phil Hui, Jacquelyn Scott, Paul Balzano and David Moreno were among those booking a seat into tomorrow’s restart at 1pm.

Full chip counts will be published as soon as they are available.

Top Five Flight C stacks:

Chris Nomikos – 298,500
Emile Schiff – 294,500

Matt Affleck (left) and Darryll Fish (right)

We didn’t think it would take very long to pass the $250,000 Guarantee and it got there early. The 66th entry joined before the end of the first level to put Event 6 at exactly 500 entries.

But they are stopping there. The count quickly moved up to 90 and we’ll have triple digits before no time.

A lot of tough players are taking their last shot at a Day 2 bag including Seminole Hard Rock Poker team members Matt Affleck, Darryl Fish, Loni Harwood, and Michael Laake.

Event 6 Day 1D: Last Flight to Fly

$570 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$250,000 Guarantee | Structure
Level 1: 25/50

Three flights are locked up in the $250,000 Guarantee Event 6 with the fourth and final set to go in a few minutes.

Those three flights combined to put 434 entries in the game to leave Event 6 only 66 entries away from hitting the mark. That should happen quickly and they’ll start piling money on top.

Each entrant will sit down to 20,000 deep starting stacks and 30-minutes levels. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the start of Level 9 at 10:30pm. They will continue into the evening and every with chips at the end of Level 14 will bag them up for a return tomorrow at 1pm for Day 2.

Flight D will get underway at 6pm and we will see who can book a seat for tomorrow’s restart.

  • $250,000 Guaranteed Prize Pool
  • Players begin with 20,000 in chips and 30-minute levels
  • Late registration/re-entry available until start of Level 9
  • Day 1 will end after Level 14 or Tournament Director discretion

Event 6 Day 1C: Six Tables Remain

$570 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)

Level 9: 400/800 with a 100 ante
Flight C Players Remaining: 54 of 167

Brian Wilson

Flight C is down to the last six tables of the day and we still have plenty of tough players in the mix to make Day 2 as they prepare for their final break. David Moreno, Yigal Hen, and Seminole Hard Rock Poker team member Loni Harwood are still pushing their stacks around while Julio Abreu has come back to the pack.

Another new face we didn’t see earlier is Brian Wilson. He won the Seminole Casino Immokalee Poker Challenge $350 Big Stack event in 2016 but he has a bigger trophy sitting at home. Wilson won the $5,000 Pot Limit Hold’em WSOP bracelet back in the glory days of 2005.

When Pot Limit Hold’em used to be a thing.

Event 6 Day 1C: Registration Closes with 167 Entries

Level 9: 400/800 with a 100 ante
Flight C Entries: 167

David Moreno

Registration is now closed for Flight C of Event 6 with 167 entries showing on the board. That pushes the combined total up to 434 for the first three flights with one more to run tonight at 6pm. Only 66 entries are needed this evening to hit the $250,000 Guarantee, then they will begin running it higher.

Julio Abreu was the chip leader at the first break and he’s clearly the leader after the second. He began the day with a 20,000 stack, ran it up to 55,000 at the first break, and now sits with another 100,000 on top of that.

David Moreno is having a good day as well and the SHRP regular is near 65,000 at the start of Level 9.

They will play six more levels, with a break after Level 12, before they bag up for a return tomorrow.

Matt Affleck

Flight C of Event 6 has reached Level 8 and this is the last chance for players to get in the action this afternoon. This is already the biggest flight of the tournament so far and it all but locks up the $250,000 guaranteed prize pool.

Matt Affleck jumped in the game late and making his first appearance of the series. The Seminole Hard Rock Poker team member flew in from Las Vegas for a little holiday vacation while firing up this event along with the Championship.

Josias Santos

The prize pool has climbed over $200,000 on its way to hitting the $250,000 Guarantee. Event 6 is going to get there, the question now is whether it will happen in this flight or early in the last one.

Josias Santos is one of the recent entries to push the numbers higher. The Florida pro could hit $500,000 in career earnings with a deep run in this tournament and he could add another trophy on top of his 2017 WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown $1,650 Purple Chip Bounty title.
