Jose Reyes can be excused if he’s a little tired this afternoon. The SHRP regular took home the first trophy of the Deep Stack Poker Series last night. Reyes took the top spot in the Event 2 Turbo after a heads-up deal.
Reyes can add that to the WSOP Circuit ring he won at our sister property in Coconut Creek earlier this year. He’s back in the poker room this afternoon trying to run up a stack in this tournament.
The first big multi-day tournament will wrap up later this afternoon but we have another one set to go at 11am.
Event 3 is a $560 buy-in Deeper Stack No Limit Hold’em tournament with a $150,000 Guarantee and two starting flights. The first kicks off this morning with the second one running tomorrow.
The starting stacks are 40,000 in this tournament and all Day 1 levels last 40 minutes. The levels increase to 60 minutes on Day 2 and bump to 90 later in the day. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the start of Day 2 on Wednesday so there’s plenty of time to get in the game.
In addition to the prize money, there is also a $1,650 Event 4 seat added to 1st place.
Plenty of reason to play in this tournament and we expect another great crown in the poker room.

Action folded around to Dion Jagroo in the small blind and he put in a big stack of 100K chips, enough to cover the short-stacked Bill Farnan in the big blind. Farnan quickly called at risk for 1,245,000 with the much better hand.
Jagroo: Farnan:
Farnan was in great shape and picked up his needed double after the run out.
Bill Farnan – 2,570,000 (32 bb) Dion Jagroo – 9,500,000 (119 bb)

Dion Jagroo opened to 160,000 from the hijack to get calls from Seth Gilson on the button and Svi Soudai in the big blind to the flop.
Soudai checked, Jagroo bet 200,000 and Gilson called. Soudai pulled a check/raise to 700,000 and Jagroo called after a minute’s thought. Gilson thought about coming along as well but mucked.
Both players checked the turn and Soudai checked the river. Jagroo took another minute to cut out 800,000 and Soudai quickly called.
Jagroo: Soudai:
Both had trip kings but kickers played to push Jagroo further into the lead.
Dion Jagroo – 10,600,000 (133 bb) Svi Soudai – 3,200,000 (40 bb)

There’s been very little action since Andre Rakusa was eliminated. Most pots are taken down with an open, maybe a three-bet preflop, but few flops have been spread. Dion Jagroo continued to build his lead while Bill Farnan and Lou Stadler make the occasional short-stack shove that gets through.

2018 May Deep Stack Poker Series Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood, Florida Event 2 $150 Deep Stack Turbo NLH (Re-Entry) $10,000 Guaranteed Entries: 122 Prize Pool: $14,640 May 20, 2018
Event 2 was a one-day trophy event with an evening start, perfect for those who wanted to play some Sunday poker or those who busted from the restart of Event 1. The tournament easily surpassed its $10,000 Guarantee and SHRP regular Jose Reyes zoomed to the victory after a heads-up deal with Nicholas Gagne.
The tournament drew 122 entries to create a prize pool worth $14,640 with the last 16 earning some money. As expected with the snappy format, they were in the money an hour after registration closed and at the final table an hour after that.
Reyes and Gagne made the final table along with multiple SHRP champion Raminder Singh and the husband/wife duo of Paulette and Carl Pipitone. They all dropped out one after another in quick fashion until only two were left.
Reyes held the lead 1,435,000 to 1,005,000 and the two agreed to a deal to divide up the remaining prize pool down the middle with Reyes getting the odd dollar extra along with the Deep Stack Poker Series trophy.
The cash pushed Reyes further over $200,000 in a career that saw him win a WSOP Circuit ring in Coconut Creek earlier in the year. He followed that up with two Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown final tables including a runner-up finish in the Turbo Event 22.
Congrats to Reyes and thanks to everyone for the great one-day event.

Andre Rakusa was the shortest stack to start the final table, laddered up a payout after Gabe Sack’s cooler, and put his chips in the middle against Daniel Silva soon after.
Rakusa: Silva:
It was another race and the dealer gave no help to Rakusa as the board ran out for two quick eliminations at the final table.
Daniel Silva – 4,200,000 (53 bb) Andre Rakusa – Eliminated in 9th place ($6,256)

It was going to take two big hands to get a big pot at the start of the final table, and that’s what happened. It took four bets to get the chips in the middle but the end result was Gabe Sack all in for his entire 2,000,000-ish stack with smack into Dion Jagroo’s .
A tough spot and Sack could not find a save on the board.
Dion Jagroo – 6,100,000 (102 bb) Gabe Sack – Eliminated in 10th place ($4,255)
