Two More Flights in $570 Re-Entry Wrap Up on Friday

The third and fourth flights of the $570 No Limit Hold’em Deep Stack Re-Entry with a $1 million guarantee prizepool wrapped up on Friday evening.

There were 491 entries into the first flight and another 458 in the evening flight, which brought the total field size to 1,662 players and a prizepool thus far of $831,000.

Joshua Hood has the overall chip lead after finishing Day 1B with 389,500 in chips. The final two flights get underway on Saturday and is the main focus of the Saturday’s action at the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown.

Event 9 Day 1D: Dave Battaglia Leads 93 Survivors

At the completion of 14 levels, the 458 players that started this flight has been trimmed down to just 93 players. It is Dave Battaglia that leads the way and has the heaviest bag at the night’s end with 301,000.

Joining Battaglia at the top of the 1D counts are Nigel Murray, Oliver Berens and Kathy Liebert. They bagged 288,000, 240,500 and 227,000 in chips, respectively.

2007 WSOP Main Event Champion Jerry Yang also made it through the day, he will head to Day 2 with 126,000 in chips. Day 2 will commence on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Joel Harwood raised to 5,000 from middle position and Pete Walsworth called from the cutoff. The small blind came along as well and they were three-handed to a flop of 10c8c5h.

The small blind and Harwood both checked and Walsworth bet 6,200. The small blind called and Harwood folded. The turn was the Kh and the small blind checked again. Walsworth bet again, this time 12,000.

The small blind called and the river was the 6c. The small blind checked and Walsworth bet 23,000. The small blind called and Walsworth showed 9h9d. The small blind mucked and Walsworth scooped a nice pot as the day nears an end.

On the turn with the board reading 10d7s2cQh, the small blind gets all in for about 40,000 against Dave Battaglia in the hijack.

“You flop a set?” asked the small blind as he committed the last of his chips.

Battaglia tabled 10h7h, giving him two pair and the small blind shows Jx9x, giving him an open-ended straight draw. The river was the 4h and Battaglia  drags the pot and contends for the chip lead with one more level to play.

The player in the hijack raised to 3,500 and Kathy Liebert called from the cutoff. The button moved all in for 10,100 and the hijack moved all in over the top for 27,800. Liebert called and had both players covered.

Liebert showed JdJc and was in the lead against the button’s KhQh and the hijack’s 8d7d.

The flop was 10d8c5d and the hijack flopped a pair and a flush draw to give Liebert a sweat. The turn was the 10c and the river was the 6c to give Liebert the pot and eliminate both players.

On a flop of Ad9s3s, the big blind was all in preflop and there was already about 17,000 in the side pot between Bob Bounahra and Nipun Java.

Java checked from under-the-gun and Bounahra checked behind. The turn was the 10d and Java checked again. Bounahra bet 25,000 and Java called. The river was the 2d and Bounahra moved all in for 5,900.

“You got so lucky, huh,” said Java. “[pocket] tens?”

Java tossed in the call and Bounahra shows 9h9d, good for a set of nines and Java mucked his hand. The big blind showed 6s5d and Bounahra more than doubled up, while knocking out a player in the process.

Bounahra is most famous for being a part of the 2011 November Nine. He finished in seventh place for over $1.3 million. He is also fresh off his first World Series of Poker Circuit ring, winning the $1,125 No Limit Hold’em for $26,555.

He drags the pot and moves into the six-digit chip counts.

Five players saw a flop of JcJh7d and Dani Dayan checked from the small blind. Jerry Yang checked from the big blind, the player under-the-gun checked and a player in middle position bet 2,000. The hijack folded, Dayan called, Yang folded and under-the-gun folded as well.

Dayan was heads-up with her opponent and the action was checked down as the board is completed with the 9d and the 5c. Dayan tabled 3h3c and her opponent mucked his hand.

With the start of level 9, late registration and re-entry is now closed and the field size for the fourth of six starting flights is now finalized.

There are 458 players who entered Day 1D which adds another $229,000 to the prizepool. That makes the current field size 1,662 entries and a total prizepool of $831,000.

There is a $1 million guarantee on the prizepool and they are on pace to shatter that mark with two more flights to run tomorrow.

In a three-bet pot preflop, three players saw a flop of 8c6h4h. The small blind checked and the Matthew Lombardi checked from the hijack.

Aleksandr Shevelev bet 3,700 from the cutoff and the small blind folded. Lombardi check-raised all in and Shevelev immediately asked for a count. The dealer verified that Lombardi was all in for 37,500 and Shevelev went into the tank for a couple minutes before calling.

Shevelev showed Ac8d, good for top pair, top kicker and was drawing to runners against Lombardi’s 4c4s.

The turn was the As and Shevelev improved to top two pair.

“Don’t do it to me,” said Lombardi after the turn gave Shevelev immediate outs.

The river was the 3c and Lombardi’s set held up to double up. He drags the pot and shoots up the chip counts.
