Championship Day 3: Miracle Run Over for Jaka

$3,500 WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown Championship
Level 23: 10,000/20,000/3,000 Ante

Faraz Jaka was in the midst of writing a great comeback story but he came up short. Earlier he was down to one big blind before the bubble on Day 2 but built it back over 400,000 to safely slide into the money. Jaka had another drop to five big blinds before rebounding to bag 431,000 by the end of the night.

His final hand came when Mohsin Charania open shoved for 395,000 and Jaka had just 30,000 behind in the small blind. He called with 9h4d against Charania’s AdJd and needed help.

The Kh5h2s did nothing to improve his situation but he added an open-ended straight draw on the 3c turn. No love for the Jaka-comeback story when on the river Jc to send the popular out in 52nd.

Championship Day 3: Heimiller Hanging Around

Level 23: 10,000/20,000/3,000 Ante

With approximately 175,000 in the pot and a flop of Kh6s5s a short-stacked Dan Heimiller moved all in facing two opponents, one of them being Joe Ebanks. The second player thought long and hard before letting his hand go and Ebanks snap-folded.

“Whew,” said a relieved Heimiller, as he continues to hang on.

Level 22: 8,000/16,000/2,000 Ante

In a battle of Seminole Hard Rock Poker regulars, Nancy Birnbaum and Scott Efron went to battle with the three-time WSOP Circuit champ Birnbaum on the bad end.

She three-bet shoved for 280,000 and Efron quickly called with AdAs. Birnbaum needed a lot of help with AhQd but couldn’t find the miracle when the board ran out 9c4h3d9sJs. Birnbaum had a nice run but was eliminated while Efron continues to hover around the leaders.

Championship Day 3: Schwartz Show Cancelled

Level 22: 8,000/16,000/2,000 Ante

After what seemed like single-person focused coverage, the Noah Schwartz coaster ride came to an end.

Most of the damage came when he was against Shawn Nguyen with the better QdQc against AdTd. Nguyen added a gutshot wheel draw on the 4d3h2h flop before hitting the Ah turn. The 6c river finished things off to knock Schwartz down to just 90,000.

He was gone soon after, much sooner than he wished.

Championship Day 2: Etay Joins the Schwartz Show

Level 22: 8,000/16,000/2,000 Ante

Schwartz is just attracting action now and this time is was against Esther Taylor-Brady. She three-bet shoved for 90,000 with ThTc and Schwartz quickly called with Ah3s.

She was ahead an took an out away from Schwartz after the KcJc6c flop. Taylor-Brady made it through the 9d turn and Jd river to double over 200,000.

Championship Day 3: Cimpan Gets Another

$3,500 WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown Championship
Level 22: 8,000/16,000/2,000 Ante

Earnest Evans was in the Championship on the cheap after winning a satellite and he made a nice run before crashing out.

Lenny Duvdivani opened to 40,000 and Cornel Cimpan called. Evans moved all-in for 159,000 to get Duvdivani out of the pot but Cimpan quickly called. Evans said he didn’t think that sounds too good but he was incorrect.

Evans was ahead with JsJd against TsTc before the Jc9d8h flop.

“Uh oh” was all Evans could say when he saw the open-ended straight draw. The 2d turn was harmless but the straight completed on the 7c river to send him out in 62nd.

Championship Day 3: Cimpan Gets Two

$3,500 WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown Championship
Level 22: 8,000/16,000/2,000 Ante

Cornel Cimpan saw plenty of action before it came around to him in the big blind. Yunior Bella opened for his entire 150,000 stack before Nader Bahhur came over the top for all his chips from the button.

The small blind let his hand go before Cimpan called having both players covered.

Cimpan: QsQc
Bella: ThTd
Bahhur: 8c8d

It was a clean Ah9s7c3h4c board for Cimpan to send both opponents to the rail while he moved up to 580,000.
