Nigel Murray

Level 14 ended with 60 players advancing to Day 2 on Sunday and Nigel Murray bagged the biggest with 558,000. That is good enough for third place coming back tomorrow and put him in a good spot to win another title.

Registration will remain open over night and close when cards go back in the air at 11 am on Sunday for Day 2.

Full chip counts and seat assignments will be posted as soon as they are available.

Event 1 Day 1C: Kai Oki Sends Two Out

$400 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)
$100,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 14: 1,500/3,000 with a 3,000 ante
Day 1C Entries: 316

Kai Oki

With about 80K in the four-way pot and the flop reading 6c3d2d, Kai Oki was in the big blind and bet about 100,000. A full barrel of 5K chips that was enough to cover the other three players in the hand. Frank Russo was next to act and sitting with 88,000.

After several minutes to think it through, the clock was called and he folded before time ran out. The player in the cutoff shrug-called at risk for 51,000 and the button called all in as well for 55,000.

Oki: QcQh
Cutoff: AdQd
Button: 8s8c

“Watch a seven come!” Russo declared for the sevens he said he mucked.

Oki was ahead with the over pair queens and the big hand held up after the 9c turn and 3h river.

Kai Oki – 324,500 (108 bb)

Event 1 Day 1C: David Shmuel Moving Up

$400 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)
$100,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 13: 1,500/2,500 with a 2,500 ante
Day 1C Entries: 314

David Shmuel

We are tracking some of the big stacks as we get closer to the end of the day and David Shmuel is now on our radar. The dangerous player is up to 253,000 and running hot at the right time.

Shmuel has seven major Hollywood titles when we play over in ballrooms but each came in a four-card or mix game. Adding a no-limit trophy would be nice.

Event 1 Day 1C: Luis Capella Leads After Last Break

$400 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)
$100,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 12: 1,000/2,000 with a 2,000 ante
Day 1C Entries: 308

Luis Capella

Last break ended and players returned to their seats to play three more levels before bagging up. We will see a few more players join during that time and they can register overnight and into the morning with registration closing at 11 am.

Luis Capella is the new leader and sits on top with 305,000. Alexander Morgovsky is doing just fine with 266,500 and dinner break leader Jeff Slayton is hanging with 169,500.

Tony Fitzpatrick is making a late run (really late) as one of our chip leaders with 192,000. He decided to fire one more bullet after dinner and is doing very nicely so far.

Another interesting story about Fitzpatrick; he bagged a big chip lead in last weekend’s May Big Stack tournament, but his daughter’s birthday was much more important than Day 2. Fitzpatrick had such a big stack that he finished 27th of the 101 who returned; that’s a good stack.

Some recent additions include Lisa Teebagy, Athanasios Polychronopolous, Andre Bryan, and Scott Levitt.

Event 1 Day 1C: Michael Newman and Steven McKoy Eliminated by Bruce Kahn

$400 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)
$100,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 10: 500/1,500 with a 1,500 ante
Day 1C Entries: 267

Bruce Kahn

We missed the betting action with the board reading KsTs9s but found a big hand in motion with two all-in buttons sitting in front of former SHRPO champs Michael Newman and Steven McKoy.

They were at risk and Bruce Kahn was sitting in the small blind with both covered.

Kahn: 8s7s
Newman: Tc9h
McKoy: AsKc

Kahn flopped a spade flush but had a lot of outs to dodge. Newman flopped two pair and needed to find a boat while McKoy was looking for another spade for the nut flush.

The 3d turn was safe for Kahn and he knocked two tough players out on the 5c river.

Bruce Kahn – 124,500 (83 bb)

Event 1 Day 1C: Jeff Slayton Moves Up Top

$400 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)
$100,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 9: 600/1,000 with a 1,000 ante
Day 1C Entries: 250

Jeff Slayton

Players returned from dinner break with 250 entries in the game and more players waiting to be seated. We will have a big number by the time registration closes tomorrow at 11 am.

Jeff Slayton is the latest to take a spot at the top of the counts. He returned to a stack of 169,000 to lead the field. Slayton is in the 1-seat at his table with that stack and third place is Brandon Curry in the 9-seat with 155,000. Alexander Morgovsky rides in between with 158,000 so they are racing for the lead.

Event 1 Day 1C: Alexander Morgovsky Leads After Break

$400 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)
$100,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 7: 300/600 with a 600 ante
Day 1C Entries: 220

Alexander Morgovsky

The second break has come and gone and players are back in action as they look to hit another milestone. The prize pool is nearinf $250,000 and should get there without a problem.

The new big stack in the room in Alexander Morgovsky, stacked up to 168,300 for the early chip lead. He knows a little something about finishing off a tournament; Morgovsky won the $150 Big Stack during the 2022 Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open.

Brandon Curry sits in second with 159,200 with a big crowd trying to chase them both down.

Event 1 Day 1C: Dimitry Agrachov Doubles Up

$400 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)
$100,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 6: 300/500 with a 500 ante
Day 1C Entries: 200

Dimitry Agrachov

With the flop reading Kc3h2h, Dimitry Agrachov committed his last 7,800 to the pot from the button and an early position player had him at risk.

Agrachov: KdJc
Opponent: Qh5h

Agrachov was ahead for a double with top pair kings but needed to dodge hearts. The 6c turn and Jd river finished the board, Agrachov finished with two pair kings and jacks, and the former Tampa Hard Rock champ doubled up.

Dimitry Agrachov – 20,400 (41 bb)
