2015 Showdown Live Updates

Event 1B: Always Climbing

$250 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 2: 50/100

It looks like the Event 1 guarantee will be reach with ease, perhaps doubled, as the 3pm flight reached 90 players at the start of the second level.

A few of those in early action are local regulars Nigel Murray, Brett Bader, and Oktay Altinbas with his tasty beverage.

Event 1B: Second Flight Underway

$250 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 1: 25/50

Cards are in the air for the second flight of Event 1 looking to add to the 170 entrants from the 11am run.

The kick-off event is a $250 buy-in No Limit Hold’em tournament with a nice $100,000 guaranteed prize pool. The first flight is set to run at 11am with two more today, one at 3pm and the final of the day at 7pm. Players begin with 12,000 stacks, 30-minute levels throughout the day, and late registration/re-entry available until the start of Level 7. They are scheduled to get through 14 levels before bagging up for Day 2 on Wednesday.

The tournament is well on its way to smashing the guarantee and building a monster prize pool for a small buy-in.

Event 1A: Dropping Quickly

$250 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 8: 300/600/75 Ante

With registration closed and the blinds on the rise, players are hitting the rail in waves. Most have been quick to hit the registration desk for 1B starting at 3pm.

Just nine tables remain as they move towards their second break. There is very good chance 1A hits the cutoff with 10% remaining before they get through 14 levels. If play is stopped early in the first flight, all subsequent flights will do the same.

Event 2: Cambell Looking for Another

$350 Big Stack Omaha 8B (Single Re-Entry)
Level 3: 150/300 Limits

It was odd to not see Robert Campbell at the start of the Omaha/8 tournament with his fine track record in this variation. Campbell has 11 tournament wins to his credit with each coming in one form or another of Omaha/8, including the $350 Pot Limit Omaha/8 tournament a few months ago during the 2015 Seminole Hard Rock Lucky Hearts Poker Open.

His absense was just a matter of late arrival, he is now in the game along with 38 other grinders including Michael Prada, TJ Shulman, and Luis Santoni.

Event 1A: Beebe Leads Early

$250 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 5: 150/300/25 Ante

Players returned from their break and Bret Beebe is the early leader. The Alabama native had a deep run here in the 2014 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Seniors Event and looking to improve on that finish.

Notables stacks:

Bret Beebe – 82,025
Daren Stabinski – 49,950
Anthony Ocampo – 37,650
Timothy Kegel – 26,825
Zach Kessler – 25,175
Jose Parra – 24,250
Jorge Gomez – 18,200
Steven Karp – 13,975
Ory Hen – 11,075

Event 1A: Getting There

$250 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 4: 100/200

Low drama is the standard early in these large field events while players get settled. Zach Kessler’s tables are rarely quiet but the first loud explosion of the series occurred there.

That was enough to get our attention as two players were sent to the desk to re-enter. The anonymous 8-seat was involved in a three-way all-in drawing thin with a backdoor straight draw against Kings and unimproved AxQx.

The turn and river came out perfect/perfect to send half the table to its feet and two players to the rail.

An exciting moment in an otherwise mellow affair so far.

There is one more level before the first break and it is closing in on 150 entrants.
