(Hollywood, Fla.) — The seventh of 14 World Series of Poker Circuit gold ring events concluded Thursday afternoon at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Claiming victory in the $365 buy-in No Limit Hold’em Freeze-Out tournament was Kyle Adams. For the win, Adams carded a score of $11,844 along with the tour’s token prize, a gold ring.
“Today was a roller coaster. I was definitely the short stack for a while,” Adams said.
Wednesday’s opening day of play moved swift with the 141-entry starting field narrowing to just three players remaining. They bagged, tagged and returned Thursday afternoon for a decisive day of action. Adams began the day as the short stack but played his way to the top busting John Cofhlin in third and taking the chip lead in to heads-up play. It wasn’t long before Tanner Babit succumbed to Adams and Adams was anointed champion. For the runner-up finish, Babit earned $7,320.
Adams is a 31-year-old professional poker player from Chicago. The victory was justice of sorts for the cash game pro who exited the previous day’s $365 Pot Limit Omaha event just shy of the final table in 12th. Following the win, he owns six figures of reported tournament cashes along with two major victories.
“I go to a lot of the stops, and I’ll play one or two tournaments. But I’m mostly here for the cash games,” Adams said. “This is my seventh, eighth, ninth time here. I love it. It’s South Florida. I have family and friends here, it’s always fun.”
