Event 1: David Prociak Eliminated; Antonio Rey Roller Coasters a Bit

$400 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)
$1,000,000 Guaranteed | Structure | Payouts
Level 30:  75,000/125,000 with a 125,000 ante
Players Remaining:  36 of 4,699

Not that long ago, David Prociak was a massive chipleader with 5 million in chips, but things turned sour rather quickly, and he was just eliminated in a three-way pot when his 3x3x lost to two players who both held AxJx.

David Prociak  –  Eliminated in 38th Place  ($3,915)

Antonio Rey
Antonio Rey

At Table 19, with the blinds at 50K-100K, Antonio Rey got it all in from the button for 750,000 with Jc9h, and he needed to improve to stay alive against the big blind’s Qc10h.

The board came Jh6s4d5d8s, and Rey paired his jack on the flop to win the pot and double up in chips.

Antonio Rey  –  1,650,000  (17 bb)

A few minutes later, Rey was involved in another all-in situation, this time as the big stack with AxQx against another player’s 10x10x — and even though Rey caught an ace, his opponent won the pot with quad tens. That knocked Rey back down to 800K, nearly as low as he was before his double up.

Antonio Rey  –  800,000  (8 bb)

A few minutes later, Rey moved all in UTG+1 for 800,000, and Michael Larkin moved all in over the top from middle position for 1,125,000 with 10h10c. This time, Rey was in worse shape than before as he only had one overcard with his Ac9c.

But the board came AsKs2d8h5h, and Rey paired his ace on the flop to win the pot and double up again, a little higher than before.

Antonio Rey  –  1,850,000  (19 bb)

Rey is proud of the fact that he started Day 2 with just 30,500, worth about eight big blinds at the time. Not quite the chip-and-a-chair story of Pedro Catinchi, who is still alive at the final four tables, but it’s still a nice comeback as he goes deeper and deeper into the money.

At Table 9, after a flop of 9c6h5c, Henry Hearns got it all in with Qs6d (pair of sixes), but he was in trouble against Utnage’s JsJc, needing to improve to stay alive.

The turn card was the 10s, the river card was the 8d, and the pocket jacks held up for Utnage to win the pot and eliminate Hearns in 37th place.

Tony Utnage  –  450,000  (5 bb)
Henry Hearns  –  Eliminated in 37th Place  ($3,915)

Level 29 came to an end, and Level 30 began with increased blinds of 75K-125K. With 36 players remaining, the average chip stack is about 2.6 million (21 big blinds).

David Prociak vs Victor Kovachev
David Prociak (left) remains motionless as Victor Kovachev considers Prociak’s river bet.

David Prociak raised from the button to 175,000, and Victor Kovachev thought for a while before calling from the small blind.

Both players checked to the turn on a board of As9h5h9d, Kovachev checked, Prociak bet 230,000, and Kovachev thought for a while before he called.

The river card was the Ks, Kovachev checked, Prociak bet 1,100,000, and Kovachev tanked for a while before he folded. Prociak took the pot.

David Prociak  –  2,500,000  (31 bb)
Victor Kovachev  –  3,800,000  (48 bb)

Gilles Dalco
Gilles Dalco

At Table 8, Manny Tarich got it all in from the button with Qc10d, and he needed to improve to stay alive against the AhKh of Gilles Dalco in the cutoff.

The board came 9c7c5h7s7d, and Dalco won the pot with his ace to eliminate Tarich in 47th place.

Gilles Dalco  –  2,700,000  (34 bb)
Manny Tarich  –  Eliminated in 47th Place  ($3,595)

Victor Kovachev  –  2,855,000  (48 bb)

Leif Force is also still going strong with 2,750,000  (46 big blinds).

At Table 20, Landon Brown moved all in from the button for 440,000, and Song O. called from the big blind with AdJh. Brown turned over Qd7s, and he needed to improve to stay alive.

The board came AsQh6cKh5s, and Song O. won the pot with a pair of aces to eliminate Brown in 59th place.

Song O.  –  2,450,000  (41 bb)
Landon Brown  –  Eliminated in 59th Place  ($3,305)

At Table 9, Shane Scorza raised, Susan Lichtenstein moved all in, and Scorza called with 10h10d. Lichtenstein turned over Ac10c, and she needed to improve to stay alive.

The flop brought two clubs to give Lichtenstein a flush draw, but she improved no further. Scorza won the pot with his pocket tens to eliminate Lichtenstein in 58th place.

Shane Scorza  –  2,150,000  (36 bb)
Susan Lichtenstein  –  Eliminated in 58th Place  ($3,305)

A short while later at the same table, Michael Rizzuto got it all in from the button for about 540,000 with 9x9x, but he needed to improve to stay alive against the JxJx of Michael Larkin in the small blind.

The pocket jacks held up for Larkin to win the pot and eliminate Rizzuto in 57th place.
