Mustafa Lobut

Players returned from the second break and registration closed for Flight C. Tournament staff are running the numbers and we should have an official count before too long.

What we do know is that everyone is chasing Mustafa Lobut at the moment. He has a clear lead on the rest of the field with 167,700. Ryan Luker is also among the leader with a healthy 118,000 heading in the middle portion of the day.

Jeremy Becker

Time is running out if you want to be a part of this big Flight C field. They will play out Level 8, take a 15-minute break, and registration will close when they return.

A few more visitors were found in today’s field include Tampa regulars Jeremy Becker and Thomas Elder, who both own guitar trophies from our friends on the other side of the state.

Nadya Magnus

We found two more friendly faces in the field, two players who won a lot of money here in 2021.

Mali Cagatay made a huge splash a few months ago when she went deep in the biggest tournament in state history. RRPO Event 1 drew an astonishing 6,196 entries and Cagatay took home more than $138K for fifth place. Fifth out of 6,196 is a great way to close out the year.

Nadya Magnus began her 2021 campaign with a runner-up finish in the LHPO $2,200 tournament for $93,566. Followed that up with a third-place finish in the $1,100 Showdown event for another $63K and she final tabled the SHRPO $25K High Roller for another nice score.

Magnus cashed a couple of dozen times last year, earned more than $426,000, and that all added up to her being named the 2021 GPI Female Player of the Year.

Rafael Reis

There are enough players in the registration line to lock up at least 600 entries in this afternoon’s flight and leave the field only a couple dozen away from a seven-digit prize pool.

A few familiar faces here already include Rafael Reis, David Jackson, Luke Brereton, Thomas Elder, Jake Ferro, Nancy Birnbaum, and Jeremy Becker

John Colucci

Flight C hit the last level before the first break and the field is nearing 500 entries with three hours to let it grow. It looks like we’ll hit the $1,000,000 guarantee in this flight, the midpoint of the tournament with three huge flights to go.

We found a couple of recent winners in the game early, both from opposite sides of the state. John Colucci took home the first trophy of the series last night when he captured the $150 Big Stack crown.

Tony March is a Tampa poker regular and won their Mega Stack tournament last weekend for a $28K cash. But March doesn’t hold on to the money; he donates all his earnings to his Pay It Backward Foundation so they now have more money to help the less fortunate.

Tim Kelliher

It’s awfully cold in the Northeast right now and that means we’re seeing a lot of players retreat south for better temps and some poker. We ran into Tim Kelliher this morning, one of those leaving single-digit degrees of Massachusetts and taking his shot in Event 1.

A lot of people may recognize “TK” from his time walking the floor with a notepad and camera as a live poker reporter but he also has some skills at the table. Keliher has a half dozen WSOP Circuit final tables to his credit including a 2013 win to take home a ring of his own.

Fernando Rodriguez

We ran into Fernando Rodriguez in early action, ready to take down the title he earned last year. Live tournament poker returned for the 2021 LHPO series and Rodriguez outlast the huge field and banked $205,000 for winning that opening event.

That win kicked off a huge year for Rodriguez with dozens and dozens of cashes, a bunch of wins around the state, and one at Aria during this fall.
