Mike Sexton changed hats today after doing the “shuffle up and deal” honors once again. The WSOP bracelet winner plays in most of the WPT events before taking his seat in the commentary booth for the final table.
The WPT had to adjust their procedures twice in the past when the Hall of Famer went on to make the final table, taking a much bigger position in the spotlight for those events. He is looking to make it a third time this week.

Today is the final starting day of the 2015 WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown Championship and it will be the biggest of the three. The first two drew 906 entrants with 332 ending their day with chips.
Everyone continues to try and catch Barry Hutter atop the counts when he finished 1A with 305,700 followed by Ryan River with 226,900. They will have eight hours to get in the game, or re-enter if they find their stack count dropped to zero, as we move closer to the $5,000,000 guaranteed prize pool.
They will sit down to 30,000 stacks and play 60-minute levels throughout the day. Late registration and re-entry is available until the start of Level 7 after the dinner break, approximately 8pm, and we’ll know the official numbers at that point. Play will conclude for the day at the end of Level 10 and everyone who survives will return tomorrow for Day 2.
Cards will be in the air at noon for the final flight of the Championship.

With approximately 30,000 in the pot and the board showing , Kevin Eyster put out a bet of 13,000 after his lone opponent checked and that was enough to take down the pot.
Eyster was at approximately 200,000 after the hand which appears to be the chip lead for today’s action but with 15 minutes left in the level and plenty of stacks hovering at the 100,000+ mark, it’s still anyone’s guess who will end up on top at the end of the play.
