Event 15: Make Me Laugh

$2,200 Six-Max No Limit Hold’em (Freezeout)
Level 6: 150/300/50 Ante

Even though the field in shrinking, the amount of comedy duos in the house is growing here in Event 15.

The new team of Ory Hen and Noah Schwartz may be sweeping the nation as the two of them have been having great conversations all night.  And after one particular round where Hen accused Joe Kuether of doing unspeakable acts to him during his time at the table, the usually stoic Kuether actually cracked a rare smile at the table.

There was even some poker at the table too as Schwartz managed a double up through Meng Chao Yu as the short-stacked Schwartz’s Ah3c held against Yu’s KdQs.

In the meantime it appears Chance Kornuth has replaced Jared Jaffee with Matt Stout on his quest for a comedy gig.  You can hear the laughter coming across the room as the two of them have been whooping it up since Stout arrived.

Event 15: Waxing Poetic, Duhamel Out

$2,200 Six-Max No Limit Hold’em (Freezeout)
Level 6: 150/300/50 Ante

Florida native and former WPT champion Matt Waxman was joined by fellow Floridians Jason Mercier and Scott Zakheim after their table broke and the table chat which also included Cliff Goldkind has been unparalled.

From appropriate age spreads for dating to the seven virtues, the poker became secondary as players at the table were firing jabs back and forth making this one of the more entertaining tables we’ve seen in this series so far.

One player in not such a chipper mood is Jonathan Duhamel who was eliminated at another table and was seen headed out of the ballroom.

42 players remain here in Event 15 as we have now passed the halfway point of Day 1.

Event 15: Tick Tock…

$2,200 Six-Max No Limit Hold’em (Freezeout)
Level 5: 100/200/25 Ante

We joined in a hand with Scott Zakheim taking on Jake Schindler with a Tx7x4x board.  Zakheim had put Schindler all-in. Jake just couldn’t decide what to do and went in the tank.

In the meantime, Jason Mercier had was really stuggling with the near seven-minute wait.  He had a much harder time dealing with the passage of the time considering the other two players at the table, Uri Kadosh and John Dolan, were both fortunate enough to be receiving massages at the time.

Eventually, Mercier called the clock and as the countdown nearly started Schindler called and showed AhJd and Zakheim turned over 7s4d for the flopped two pair.  Another ten came on the turn giving Schindler more outs but he bricked the river and was out the door.

Mercier, whose goatee may have grown two more inches during the wait, said he hated to call the clock because he “plays 100k’s with the guy” but just couldn’t take it anymore.

The elimination takes the field down to 54 out of the 94 entrants in Event 15.

Event 15: Abbott And Costello

$2,200 Six-Max No Limit Hold’em (Freezeout)
Level 5: 100/200/25 Ante

Two of the most outgoing personalities in poker are seated at the same table and it didn’t take long for the fun to start.

Chance Kornuth seemed like a fish out of water until his good buddy, Jared Jaffee, showed up after a late registration.  And of course right off the bat, the two of them got in a hand and the prerequisite snappy banter.  Kornuth won the first round but the rest of their table is for quite a treat as long as these two stay together tonight.

Event 15: Finally, Duhamel Has Come To Seminole Hard Rock-Hollywood!

$2,200 Six-Max No Limit Hold’em (Freezeout)
Level 4: 100/200

With all the incredible successes and the travels that have come with them, Jonathan Duhamel has had one place on the yearly poker schedule he’s missed out on in his career.  Suprisingly, the 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event Champion is making his first trip to the Seminole Hard Rock-Hollywood to play a tournament series.

Duhamel explained what finally got him here.  “I’ve been wanting to go to Florida and here at Seminole for a quite long time but there was always something going on and it was kinda tough with the schedule to make it happen.  But the last few months I traveled quite a lot so I didn’t really want to travel to Austrailia again or Deauville because it was pretty far away.  So I thought it was a good occasion to finally  go to Florida for the first time and enjoy it.  And so far it’s been really nice.  I’m very happy to be here.”

Duhamel seemed to be thrilled with his choice to come to play the WPT Lucky Hearts Poker Open and has been initially impressed with the property.  “It’s pretty good – it’s pretty big!  Hard Rock is always pretty nice.  You know, it’s a lot of rock n’ roll so it’s good to be here.  Weather is amazing too and it was pretty freezing cold in Montreal.  So I’m just really happy.  It’s my first day and I just got here but so far I’m loving it.”

What’s on the docket for Jonathan while he’s here?  “I just plan to play poker, enjoy the sun and be outside by the pool.  I’ll try to have some drinks here and there and just have some fun and enjoy the week.  I know it’s going to be a good time.  I have a good feeling about being here so we’ll have some fun and see what happens.”

“I just got here so I went straight from the airport to my hotel room to the tournament” said Duhamel who just arrived but is looking forward to getting to explore the property and the area.  “There’s a lot of people around the pool so that sounds like fun and I’m just going to the enjoy the sun and go play a round of golf.  It’s a good mood around here so I like it!”

Hopefully Duhamel will enjoy more than the pool as he tries to add the Seminole Hard Rock-Hollywood WPT Lucky Hearts Poker Open title to his stellar resume.
