Championship: Panayiotou Pairs Up Twice

$5,300 Championship NLH $10 Million Guaranteed (Re-Entry)
Level 19: 3,000/6,000/1,000 ante

The player in Seat 7 bets out 13K on a flop of 6c2h10s. Eric Panayiotou is in the small blind and makes the call. Jd comes on the turn and seat 7 bets out 14K. Panayiotou thinks it over, and asks how much his opponent has left behind. After seat 7 says “about 32K”, Panayiotou puts out a stack of 5K chips that has his opponent covered. Seat 7 calls.

Seat 7: JsKd
Panayiotou: Jc10h

The river is a meaningless 8h, and Panayiotou wins the pot with 2 pair, Jacks and Tens…and eliminates his opponent. Panayiotou has about 450K in his stack.

The rich are getting richer as Dan Colman, winner of the 2014 WSOP Big One for One Drop, might be in line to add another nice payout. He was a late minute entry yesterday at dinner after dropping another stack and is running up his final bullet.

Colman has very quietly built up to one of the biggest in the room, currently hovering around 1.1 million. Also joining the millionaire club was David Farber, second in chips after Day 1A, and 2010 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Main Event winner Ty Reiman.

Championship: Rags to Riches

$5,300 Championship NLH $10 Million Guaranteed (Re-Entry)
Level 18: 2,500/5,000/500 ante

Local player Anthony Dianaty (Tampa, FL) stopped by Media Row to share his story during the break. He started the day as one of the lower chip stacks with 23K. Since then though, he has been steadily building and now has around 240K and is still fighting in today’s Championship Day 2. One of the bigger hands he had during the day is when he was dealt pocket Aces and it held up against an opponent’s pockets Queens. Dianaty is a recreational player who does real estate full time, but he hopes for a big payday here in the next few days. Good luck the rest of the way Anthony!

Championship: Off to the races

$5,300 Championship NLH $10 Million Guaranteed (Re-Entry)
End of Level 17: 2,000/4,000/500 ante

Jeff Madsen shoves his stack from late position and is called by Roberto Rodrigues. The cards are tabled:

Madsen: Ac10s
Rodrigues: 7s7d

We’re off to the races, but the board is no help for Madsen’s 2 overcards as it falls 2s9h9d5cKs and Rodrigues gets a double and has about 90K in chips. Madsen’s stack falls to about 61K.

Players are just coming back from 15 minute break, and they’ll be going up to Level 18: 2500/5000/ 500 ante

Championship: Some Survivors

$5,300 Championship NLH $10 Million Guaranteed (Re-Entry)
Level 16: 1,500/3,000/500 ante

There is a steady stream of players lining up at the payout desk. As soon as they hit the money, players starting hitting the rail.

A recent run saw Stuart Paterson, Pauly Volpe, and Amanda Musumeci waiting for their payout but there are still plenty of wizards in action. Natasha Barbour, Jessica Dawley, Angel Vu, Nancy Birnbaum, Lily Kiletto, and Angela Prada-Moed made the money and still in line for the $1.7 million top prize.

Championship: Quick Bubble

$5,300 Championship NLH $10 Million Guaranteed (Re-Entry)
Level 16: 1,500/3,000/500 ante

It took exactly one time around with hand-for-hand play to put the field in the money. There were several tables taking their time getting to the end but it was #10 getting in done.

After action completed on all other tables, tournament staff focused on the one all-in called where Joe Weissman (Boca Raton, FL) was in danger against Bao Nguyen (Houston, TX).

Weissman was in great position to stay alive with QsQh against KhTd but he saw an unfriendly 7d5d2d flop. Weissman didn’t have to wait long to see his fate when the turn came 9d to leave him drawing dead, eliminated in 301st spot.

Everyone remaining is guaranteed a piece of the prize pool with min-cash earning $7,483.

Championship: Bubble Approaching

The bubble is quickly approaching as the number dropped to 303 shortly after they returned from break. There are still a large number of poker pros, local grinders, and a few WSOP bracelet winners spread around the room.

They will go hand-for-hand soon and we will soon know who is getting a piece of the $10 million prize pool.

Championship: Breaking Again

$5,300 Championship NLH $10 Million Guaranteed (Re-Entry)
End of Level 15: 1,200/2,400/400 ante

Players are off on their first break of the day and they will be in the money before the next one. Less than 340 players remain from the 478 who began the day.

Defending SHRPO Champion Blair Hinkle started the day near the bottom of the chips counts but has nicely moved his stack over 225,000 as tournament staff race off the black chips.

When they return, it will be time to play down to the money.
