We lost some big names today and there are no more second (or third, or fourth) chances.  2006 WSOP Main Event winner Jamie Gold busted out late in the day.  WSOP Bracelet holders Marsha Wolak and Chance Kornuth and WPT Player of the Year Andy Frankenberger busted out.

Another former WPT Player of the Year fared better.  Faraz Jaka bagged 123,000 and will have 62 big blinds when play resumes Sunday at 12 noon.

Shawn Cunix
Shawn Cunix

Shawn Cunix and three other players got all-in pre-flop.  Shawn had the most chips and was ahead with pocket 7s.  The other three players held AK, AJ, and A4.

The flop fell J J 4 giving the lead to the player holding AJ.  Then Shawn binked a 2-outer 7 on the turn to make a full house.  When a 9 hit the river, Shawn busted three players at once.  He chipped up to ~210k.

Event 17: Not taking Chances

$5,300 Championship NLH $10 Million Guaranteed (Re-Entry)
Level 12: Blinds 600/1200/200 ante

On a flop of 10c9c7h, the players in the 1 and 3 seat both check. Bao Nguyen is in late position and fires out 3800. Chance Kornuth has the button and flats. The other 2 players muck. The turn brings the Kc, and Nguyen fires out 7600 after thinking for a bit. Kornuth makes the call. Fifth street is the 3d. Nguyen puts out a bet of about 30K and Kornuth mucks. Kornuth is overheard asking Nguyen if he made the flush, prompting a nod from Nguyen. Nguyen has about 125K or so after scooping in that pot.

The New York/New Jersey/Pennsylvania area players are making a good showing here at the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open.  Lots of Atlantic City regulars made the trek down the East Coast to enjoy the poker action.
