Event 18: Thanks for Playing

$1,650 Purple Chip Bounty No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)

Level 12:  Blinds 600/1,200/200 ante

Dan DiZenzo and Aleksandr Gorelik busted out and with their departures, the final 18 players drew for seats at the final two tables.

Soon after arriving at their new tables, Steven Bennet was all-in holding pocket Tens against James Calderaro’s AK.  A King hit the board and Steven hit the rail in 18th place.

After Kevin McColgan opened for 2,500 (utg), Aaron Massey raised to 6,900.  Ray Ruszkowski jammed and after Kevin folded, Aaron called.

Ray’s AQ offsuit was dominated by Aaron’s AK offsuit.  The board came J J 5 4 8 and changed nothing.  Ray exited the tournament in 17th place.

Only 12 get paid, so five more will leave empty-handed.

Event 18: Bounty Bummer

$1,650 Purple Chip Bounty No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 10:  Blinds 400/800/100 ante

And here’s why bounty tournaments can be so frustrating.

Each bounty in this tournament is worth $500 and Sterling Savill looked like his turned pair of queens was going to pick an opponent off for the chips and the cash.  In fact, the player he beat was headed out the door.

But then the count was done and after the 23,225 all-in was double-checked, his opponent was left with 50 chips.  Two measly little green chips separated Savill from the $500 payoff.  Ouch.

Savill couldn’t believe it and then had to watch the 50 chips and the bounty go to another player on the next hand after he’d done the dirty work.

With the elimination, 22 players remain in Event 18.
