8th: Gunther Young – $880

Gunther Young got the last of his short stack all in preflop. Augusto Cavazzini and Michael Meltzer were among those to duke it out in a side pot. The board ran Js9c5d4cQd and Cavazzini and Meltzer both turned over Tx8x for a queen-high straight. With no low out there, Young was eliminated in 8th place for $880.

9th: Al Green – $662

With an average stack of just five big bets, a shorstacked Al Green got his last 5,000 in the middle in a four-way pot. After some side action, the hands were tabled and Green was unable to best the ace-deuce low of one opponent or the ace-high flush of another. He busted 9th earning $662.

$300 Limit Omaha/8 (Re-Entry)
Level 16: 6,000/12,000 Limits
Players Remaining: 12 of 92

After about 45 minutes of bubble play, Harry Eisenberg did the dirty work busting an unknown player 13th and sending the final 12 into the money. One player happy to squeak into a payday is Jordan Chizick. Chizick owns two Omaha/8 victories at the Seminole Hard Rock, but has his work cut out for him if he hopes to add a third. He currently claims less than two big bets with the final table right around the corner.

The remaining 21 players in today’s 12pm Omaha/8 tournament are on a 40-minute dinner break. Cards go back in the air just before 7:15pm and they’ll need to lose nine more players before the final 12 are in the money. We will pick up this event again once the bubble bursts and the final table nears.

Event 2: Harwood’s Back

$300 Limit Omaha/8 (Re-Entry)
Level 8: 800/1,600 Limits
Entrants: 86

Joel Harwood (Hallandale, FL)
Joel Harwood (Hallandale, FL)

The Omaha/8 tournament is approaching the second break of the day and registration will close when they return. They have 86 entries into the game and we expect a few more before they close the books.

Joel Harwood’s first bullet did not end well but we don’t doubt he can run the second one up to a nice score. And he has some history behind him.

Harwood, father of two-time WSOP bracelet winner Loni Harwood, has a final table appearance in the Omaha/8 tournament during four of the last five major SHRP series. The most exciting one came when he finished in third place during the 2015 SHRPO Omaha/8 event but had most of his attention online following along from afar as Loni won the WSOP National Championship at the same time.

Event 2: POY Prociak Gets In

$300 Limit Omaha/8 (Re-Entry)
Level 2: 150/300 Limits
Entrants: 45

David Prociak (Orlando, FL)
David Prociak (Orlando, FL)

The Omaha/8 tournament kicked off on schedule with a nice, talented field here in early action including reigning Seminole Hard Poker Player of the Year David Prociak.

The Orlando pro picked up his POY hardware thanks to a great run in 2015/2016 and he hasn’t slowed down. Prociak also enjoys a little four-card poker and he picked up another trophy in the Pot Limit Omaha game during the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open this summer.

Event 2: Looking for the Split Pot Champion

$300 Limit Omaha/8 (Re-Entry)
Level 1: 100/200 Limits

SHRP Showdown Chips

We still have six flights to power through in Event 1 but we’ll find our first 2016 Seminole Hard Rock “Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open” champion while they play down.

Event 2 is a $300 buy-in tournament and they’ll be playing some Limit Omaha/8 all day long. The split-pot game draws a smaller crowd but it will be a talented group of players trying to scoop their opponents.

Each entrant will sit down to a 10,000 starting stack and they’ll play 30-minute levels from start to finish. Late registration is available until the start of Level 9 at 4:30pm and they can re-enter during that time if they manage to bust a stack. This is scheduled as a one-day tournament and we’ll have our first champion of the series before the night is through.

Action gets underway at noon and we’ll keep an eye on them as the cruise through the day.

  • Players begin with 10,000 in chips and 30-minute levels
  • Late registration/re-entry available until start of Level 9
  • This is a one-day tournament and plays until completion
