With tournament staff, film crews and reporters surrounding the Tournament of Champions final table, there’s no shortage of action on the floor. That, however, stops with the staff. Level 17 came and went with only the double ups of Farid Yachou and Andy Frankenberger headlining the hand history.

Level 18 is underway now with blinds of 5,000/10,000 and a 1,000 ante. The average stack of 356,000 is good for 35 big blinds and that’s expected to help the action pick up.

Noah Schwartz opened to 20,000 from late position and Andy Frankenberger jammed the big blind for 67,000. Schwartz double-checked his hole holds and plopped calling chips in the pot.

The flop smacked Frankenberger falling 9d6s6c improving him to nines full. Frankenberg clammed in celebration.

The turn was the Jh and the river was the 2c. Schwartz shipped the double the way of Frankenberger.

Farid Yachou raised to 20,000 from middle position and Michael Mizrachi three-bet to 50,000 on the button. Action folded back around to Yachou, who moved all in for 127,000 and Mizrachi quickly called.

It was a flip for Yachou’s tournament life with his 6d6c up against Mizrachi’s AsKh. The board ran out clean for Yachou as it came 8h7d2dJc7h and Yachou’s pair won the flip to double up.

Jonathan Jaffe raised to 15,000 from early position and Andy Frankenberger moved all in for 25,000. Michael Mizrachi called from the small blind and Jaffe called as well.

Mizrachi and Jaffe checked the hand down as the board ran out 6d5c4cTdQh.

“I like the river,” said Frankenberger, tabling AdQs.

Mizrachi showed Kx9x, Jaffe showed Kx7x and Frankenberger tripled up.

“I might be the only one in the room that liked the river,” said Frankenberger. “But I liked that river.”

There was a slight pause in the action as they re-draw for seats at the final table.
