Event 5F: Channeling Billy Pappas

$570 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em
Level 11: 600/1,200/200 Ante

Angel Vu is normally seen at the poker tables with her lucky golden frog.  But unfortunately it was left in the luggage, so she had go to the next best thing.

Taking a page out of the playbook of WSOP November Niner Billy Pappas who is known for his heavy use of the famous Nintendo character Yoshi for good luck, Vu has gone to pint-sized dragon as her temporary card protector of choice and even accesorized her fingernail polish to match.  We’ll see if Yoshi can help Vu save the day and make it to Day 2.

And apparently, Mr. Pappas approved of the decision on Twitter:

Event 5F: Jacks In The Backpack

$570 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em
Level 10: 500/1,000/100 Ante

The magic in Greg Lehn’s backpack would even meet the high standards of Dora The Explorer.

With his granddaughter’s backpack keeping him company, Lehn faced down two all-in bets on a 5h5d9s board and decided to roll the dice with JcJs.  Turned out he made the right call as his opponents showed K-10 offsuit and Q-10 offsuit.  The board ran out harmlessly with the 8c4d and Lehn cleared out two obstacles to advancing to Day 2 tomorrow along with what may turn out be the family’s new lucky charm.

Event 5F: Vivian Nguyen Leads

$570 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em
Level 9: 400/800/100 Ante

As registration closes, the chipleader in this flight is Vivian Nguyen, who is pretty far out in front with 151,600. There are only three players with at least 100,000, and they form the top of the leaderboard:

1.  Vivian Nguyen  –  151,600  (189 bb)
2.  Aaron Klausman  –  120,300  (150 bb)
3.  Barrett Purvis  –  102,100  (127 bb)

With approximately 288 players remaining from a Flight 5F field of about 487 (unofficially), the average chip stack is about 33,800 (42 big blinds).

And here’s a tweet that chipleader Vivian Nguyen just sent to @SHRPO from the table:

Event 5F: The Revolving Door

$570 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em
Level 8: 300/600/75 Ante

With 15 mintues remaining in the final level to re-enter, players are playing fast and loose to either re-build their short stacks or head to the registration desk to take a final shot in this flight.

Entries are piling up quickly in the last few minutes as the total has quickly zoomed to 460 here in Flight 5F.  One of those players just coming back into the field is Stewart Newman, one of the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Embassabors.  Newman along with many others will be playing hard from here on out with the hope of advancing to Day 2 tomorrow.
