Event 6 Day 1C: Six Tables Remain

Level 9: 400/800 with a 100 ante

Brian Wilson

Flight C is down to the last six tables of the day and we still have plenty of tough players in the mix to make Day 2 as they prepare for their final break. David Moreno, Yigal Hen, and Seminole Hard Rock Poker team member Loni Harwood are still pushing their stacks around while Julio Abreu has come back to the pack.

Another new face we didn’t see earlier is Brian Wilson. He won the Seminole Casino Immokalee Poker Challenge $350 Big Stack event in 2016 but he has a bigger trophy sitting at home. Wilson won the $5,000 Pot Limit Hold’em WSOP bracelet back in the glory days of 2005.

When Pot Limit Hold’em used to be a thing.

David Moreno

Registration is now closed for Flight C of Event 6 with 167 entries showing on the board. That pushes the combined total up to 434 for the first three flights with one more to run tonight at 6pm. Only 66 entries are needed this evening to hit the $250,000 Guarantee, then they will begin running it higher.

Julio Abreu was the chip leader at the first break and he’s clearly the leader after the second. He began the day with a 20,000 stack, ran it up to 55,000 at the first break, and now sits with another 100,000 on top of that.

David Moreno is having a good day as well and the SHRP regular is near 65,000 at the start of Level 9.

They will play six more levels, with a break after Level 12, before they bag up for a return tomorrow.

Matt Affleck

Flight C of Event 6 has reached Level 8 and this is the last chance for players to get in the action this afternoon. This is already the biggest flight of the tournament so far and it all but locks up the $250,000 guaranteed prize pool.

Matt Affleck jumped in the game late and making his first appearance of the series. The Seminole Hard Rock Poker team member flew in from Las Vegas for a little holiday vacation while firing up this event along with the Championship.

Josias Santos

The prize pool has climbed over $200,000 on its way to hitting the $250,000 Guarantee. Event 6 is going to get there, the question now is whether it will happen in this flight or early in the last one.

Josias Santos is one of the recent entries to push the numbers higher. The Florida pro could hit $500,000 in career earnings with a deep run in this tournament and he could add another trophy on top of his 2017 WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown $1,650 Purple Chip Bounty title.

Julio Abreu

Flight C players are back from their first break of the day with 135 entries in so far. That puts this flight on pace to top the first two and the tournament is less than 100 entries away from crossing the $250,000 Guarantee.

Julio Abreu was the big mover over the first four level and Zach Mullennix joined him as the only other player over 50,000. We’ll see if anyone can catch either one over the next ten levels.

Top stacks:

Julio Abreu – 55,000 (183 bb)
Zach Mullennix – 52,000 (173 bb)
Dmitry Savelyev – 45,000 (150 bb)

Jacquelyn Scott

It took a little while to shake off the cobwebs on a Tuesday morning but Flight C is finally seeing a steady run of entrants into the game.

Former WSOP Ladies Event champion Jacquelyn Scott is back with us and ready to find a bag later this evening. We also found SHRP regular Marcus Stein getting his chips in early.

“It’s gone quick today,” he told us.

Stein was all in for his last 4,600 in Level 3 and found a caller for a double or re-entry. He was ahead with KcTc against the live 9d7d then took command on the KhJs6c flop. The Qh turn and Jd river were good enough for the double but he still has some work to do to get back to a starting stack.

We are at the midway point of the last multi-day tournament before the Championship kicks off on Friday. Event 6 is a $570 buy-in No Limit Hold’em tournament with a $250,000 guaranteed prize pool and four starting flights over two days.

Yesterday, the first two flights combined for 267 entries to get the tournament at an easy pace to push the prize pool over the guaranteed mark. We expect to see that later this evening and they will begin running it higher.

Event 6 players will sit down to 20,000 deep stacks and play 30-minute levels throughout their opening flight. Late registration and re-entries are available until the start of Level 9 at 3:30pm then play through 14 full levels. After 14 levels of play, Day 1B of the $570 no limit hold’em re-entry event has come to an end with Marc Shiller leading the final 24 players that made it through the flight.

Schiller bagged the chip lead by a wide margin. He finished with 262,500 and Alex Ivan, who finished second in chips, bagged 214,500.

Fabio Baduy was the only other player above 200,000 in chips. Several Hard Rock regulars made it through the second starting flight. Michael Newman (114,500), Dylan Drazen (110,500), Daren Stabinski (63,500) and James Salmon (62,000) all made it through as well.

The 24 players who made it through this flight join the 28 Day 1A survivors for Day 2 on Wednesday. There are two more flights to play out on Tuesday before the field size and prize pool are finalized.
