$46,823 for a $150 investment.  Not a bad couple of day’s work for Kenneth Norman of Plantation, FL.  Norman overcame a massive field and a final table with blinds moving up at a staggering rate to pick up the victory in Event 7.

With chips swinging wildly across the tables, Norman managed to go from one of the shorter stacks to pouring it on late to dominate the final table and end heads-up play against Sean Shah in one hand.

Norman hit his most critical hand against Elie Joseph with aces against jacks with four players to go and then picked off Ross Fischer three-handed to put up a massive stack before ending it against Shah.  Also a factor was his decision to stay very agressive and continually turn down chop offers that were flying around even with two tables left.

“I realized the other people cared about their tournament life too much and I took advantage” said the Maryland native.  “Everyone else wouldn’t make a stand unless they had it and so I just stayed agressive.  Picking up on that made me decide that there was no way I was going to chop this.   There were times I just closed my eyes and jammed and it worked.”

Norman also credited his rail for keeping his head in the game and thanked them after the tournament during the celebration for helping him keep balanced at the table and continually assuring him not to chop and play for it.

What’s next for Kenneth?  “I have to go home and clean the house.”

But after the chores are done, Kenneth Norman plans to be back for the Main Event. If he brings his game like he did tonight, a second trophy from the Seminole Hard Rock “Rock N’ Roll” Poker Open may be in his future here in Hollywood, FL.

Congratulations to Event 7 Champion, Kenneth Norman!

Event 7: Kenneth Norman Wins Event 7 ($46,823), Sean Shah Finishes 2nd ($27,384)

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 35: Blinds 200,000/400,000/50,000 ante

As wild as this tournament was, it was fitting it would take only one hand to decide the championship.

Sean Shah decided to take a stab at Kenneth Norman’s huge stack and unfortunately for Shah, Norman woke up with a hand.

Shah: 7s4s
Norman: Ac5d

After an ace showed up on a 2cQhAh flop, it was all but over and a 2cKh turn and river ended Event 7.

Sean Shah finishes in 2nd place for $27,384 and Kenneth Norman claims his first career non-chopped title winning the top prize of $46,823.

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 35: Blinds 200,000/400,000/50,000 ante

Kenneth Norman’s instincts have been right on at this final table.  And he picked the right time to trust them again.

Ross Fischer sent Norman into the tank with an all-in bet and Norman took the time decipher what was happening even asking Fischer “Is king high good here?”.  Norman eventually made the call and the cards were turned up with Norman ahead.

Fischer: Ks3s
Norman: KhTc

A dejected Fischer watched a JcJdAd8d2s run out and left Kenneth Norman and Sean Shah heads-up for the title. Fischer wins $18,484 for the 3rd place finish.

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 34: Blinds 150,000/300,000/50,000 ante

An outstanding run by Ginny Smythe has come to a close.

Smythe put her tournament life on the line with KhQd holding the lead against Kenneth Norman’s Ac4c and a 8dQh6h flop. But the cards had another idea as the Ah hit the turn and Smythe was denied. Smythe ends her tournament in 5th place for $8,509.

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 34: Blinds 150,000/300,000/50,000 ante

For the third time at this final table, A-7 has sent a player to the rail.

Daniel Navarrete made the move and was called by Elie Joseph.

Navarrete: As7s
Elie: AcKc

Elie was never threatened on the 3d6c8s2d6s board and sent Navarrete to the rail in 6th place for $6,553.

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 34: Blinds 150,000/300,000/50,000 ante

After a dramatic river card to save him once, Luis Pires couldn’t pull it off twice.

Pires ran into Ross Fischer making the call.  Fisher, having tripled up with quad fives earlier, was in great shape when the cards were turned up.

Pires: QhJc
Fischer: KhKc

With his suits dominated, Pires was going to need a ton of help. He did get a small dose of hope after a Ah9c7cQc board but the As ended Pires’ tourney with a 7th place finish good for $4,998.

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 32: Blinds 75,000/150,000/25,000 ante

Two big hands but only one winnner.

Kayasuhide Yamamoto made the first move confidently going all-in but Kenneth Norman felt just a little bit better.

Yamamoto: TcTs
Norman: JsJh

Yamamoto got no help from a Kd6c2d4d6d board and had an outstanding tournament finish with him taking home $3,658 for his 8th place finish.

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 32: Blinds 75,000/150,000/25,000 ante

A-7 claims another victim.

On a 7-8-9 board, Wiggins tried to pick up the pot with an all-in holding A-7 for bottom pair but Luis Pires was ready.  Pires instantly called with 10-J for the nut straight and Wiggins was gone in 9th heading to the cage to pick up his $2,621.

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 32: Blinds 75,000/150,000/25,000 ante

The guy happiest to be at this final table is the first to fall.

Andrei Ebrahimpour battled with a ton of heart to reach this final table but his last move didn’t work out.  Andrei’s all-in was snap-called by Sean Shah.

Ebrahimpour: As7c
Shah: QcQd

Things looked for Andrei to survive after a 3h5dAc flop but Shah caught a queen on the river and sent a diappointed but happy Ebrahimpour out of Event 7 with $1,878 for his 10th place finish.
