Event 8 Champion
Bruce MacGregor now has another trophy for his other grandchild.
MacGregor, the Seniors Champion from the 2014 Seminole Hard Rock “Rock N’ Roll” Poker Open, evened it out by picking up his second title in as many series. He gave the first trophy to one of his grandchildren and now his other one won’t be jealous. MacGregor battled his way through this sixty player field and behind a pair of critical hands with two tables to go built a chip stack that loomed over the final table. After MacGregor continued to build his stack, the table came a chop deal giving him the victory.
MacGregor had turned quad nines against tens full on one hand to get off the short stack and then a wheel on the river a few hands later against two players to open up the major chip gap that as fate would have it would not be overcome. Of course, the rest of the players got a taste of some cash as well as the deal gave six players $3,000 each. Andrew Donovan ended up in 2nd followed by Nick Gelsomino in 3rd, 4th place finisher Marc Sacheli, David Palmer in 5th and Joseph Patalano taking 6th.
MacGregor didn’t have it easy pulling this win off and has his eye on bigger and better things after taking this event down. “I was stuggling the whole way between 12 and 40 thousand. Winning back to back is nice but I’m looking for the big one – the million dollar one or the three million dollar one. That’s the nice stuff. But this is fun. It’s my favorite game.”
And with that, MacGregor will try to take down some of that “nice stuff” and get a trophy he can keep for himself in the Main Event.
