With 244 players remaining, the average stack will be about 410,000 (27 bb) with the blinds at 10,000/15,000 and a 15,000 ante and everyone is guaranteed at least $1,475.

Event 7: Big Two-Day Deep Stack

We’re pushing up the stakes this afternoon and Event 7 got underway at the top of the hour with a $1,100 Deep Stack that has a $100,000 guarantee and two-day structure.

They start with 20,000 deep stacks and the first 12 levels last 30 minutes each, going up to 40 from Level 13 till the final table. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the start of Level 9 at 8:55 pm following the dinner break.

Event 1: More Down; Anthony Casas Up

$600 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)
$1,000,000 Guaranteed | Structure | Payouts
Level 20: 6,000/12,000 with a 12,000 ante
Players Remaining:  268 of 4,960

Anthony Casas

To give the pace some perspective, the math says Event 1 has lost an average of one player every 30 seconds since cards went in the air and that includes a 10-minute break where it wasn’t possible to lose a player. The action will have to slow down eventually but right now they are juicing the action.

Anthony Casas is another player on the better end of the deal, sitting with 910,000 in his stack with less than 30 minutes before the 1K color up break.

Event 1: Jake Schwartz and Mark Perry Climbing

$600 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)
$1,000,000 Guaranteed | Structure | Payouts
Level 19: 5,000/10,000 with a 10,000 ante
Players Remaining:  328 of 4,960

Jake Schwartz

The field continues to shrink (while opening tables for Event 6) which means someone has to get chips while the payout line grows. Two more dangerous players are building chip castles including Jake Schwartz with 823,000 and Mark Perry with 790,000.

There’s still a lot of time left in the day to catch them but that won’t be an easy feat.

Event 1: David Vurgait Nearing One Million

$600 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

Level 18: 4,000/8,000 with a 8,000 ante
Players Remaining:  396 of 4,960

David Vurgait

Farid Jattin isn’t the only one building a stack this afternoon and David Vurgait’s run might be even more impressive. While he has yet to top a million, his 925,000 at the moment is a great increase on the 185,000 he began with at the start of the day.

The field is down under 400 and there’s no slowing yet.

The quick break came to an end and players returned to their seats, all of them chasing the same leader.

Farid Jattin came into Day 2 with more than 700K as the chip lead and he’s only built a bigger castle since. The 2017 Tampa Winter Poker Open Main Event champ is up to 1,343,000 for a big lead at this stage.

After Level 17 came to an end, tournament staff sent players on a quick 10-minute break to relax for a bit. There are around 450 players remaining, both rooms are packed to the seems and it’s a busy Sunday as expected.

Event 6: Sunday Funday

$400 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

Level 1:  100/100

Due to the huge restart for Event 1, the $400 one-day Deep Stack game was moved back half an hour and now we have seats available for that gang. They have a $50,000 guarantee and football on the TVs.

Players start with 20,000 deep stacks and all levels last 30 minutes. Late registration is available until the start of Level 9 at 6 pm with unlimited re-entries during that time. They will take a 40-minute dinner break at 8 pm and return to play down to a winner.

T.K. Miles

As expected, there’s a near-constant chant of “payout table (pick any table)” as players zoom to the payout desk. We will try to keep up with the pace but it might take a while for things to settle.

Tampa Winter Poker Open Main Event champ T.K. Miles did his part to drop the field by one. A short-stack Matthew Sonzogni was at risk for 36,000 with Ad3c against Miles with QcTh. Miles hit the KdQs6c flop and Sonzogni was eliminated after the 8c turn and 5s river.

T.K. Miles – 388,000 (78 bb)

Level 16: 3,000/5,000 with a 5,000 ante

Farid Jattin unbags his chip lead

Players grabbed their Day 2 seats and tournament staff put cards in the air for Day 2. They begin with 22:40 remaining in Level 16 and blinds will go up to 40 minutes when it is complete.

With all returning players in the money, we can expect a blistering pace of eliminations right out of the gate as short stacks trying to spin it up.
