Level 6: 200/400 with a 400 ante
Flight C Entries: 569 (Total Entries: 1,512)

The second break is close as the WPTDeepStacks Main Event made a little history. Before this tournament, Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood was responsible for the two biggest fields in the tour’s history and we can add another big number.

The top of the list is our Main Event in 2016 when we had 1,684 entries and the second was from 2017 with 1,509. We now have 1,512 (and counting) in this year’s incarnation to push it into second place giving us the top three spots.

Thanks to our players, visitors, and friends for making it happen.

Jessica Dawley

Flight C hit 557 entries before the second break to put the combined total at exactly 1,500 for the Main Event. That leaves them only ten away from making this the second biggest field in WPTDeepStacks history.

Among the recent arrivals, we found Ryan Van Sanford, former HPT Player of the Year Aaron Massey, WSOP Circuit Hollywood ring winner Tony Ruberto, and reigning WSOP Ladies Champion Jessica Dawley.

Rob Brown

We found a few snowbirds in yesterday’s action and we have some more among the crowd today. It’s tough to turn down some sunshine and big money poker when it’s snowing in the Northeast and New England.

Both Rob Brown and Luke Vrabel have Foxwoods wins but looking for their first SHRP title. With a min-cash in the Main Event, Brown will move over $500,000 in career earnings with four of his five tournament wins coming in Massachusetts. Vrabel already has two LHPO cashes and he came to South Florida after winning a seat and playing in the PokerStars No Limit Hold’em Players Championship in the Bahamas last week.

Structure

Continuing with the mixed games on today’s schedule, the second new tournament on the schedule will switch between Omaha 8 and Stud 8 for plenty of split pots.

Event 17 has a $360 buy-in and it will be a fun tournament for those who already bagged up in the Main Event or those who do not bother with two-card games. They will sit down to 12,000 starting stacks and play 30-minute levels from start to finish. Late registration is open until the start of Level 9 at 7:30pm and they will continue splitting pots until we have our OE champion later tonight.

  • Players begin with 12,000 in chips and 30-minute levels
  • Late registration/SINGLE re-entry available until start of Level 8

He returned to a stack worth 98,500 with Raymond Roberty (93,500) and Mehdi Belhasson (91,000) the other stacks over 90K.

Meanwhile, Anthony Lategano is doing well with his “Win a seat” entry and moved up to 35,500 after three levels.

Anthony Astarita

Flight C players are a few minutes away from their first break as the entry count moved over 400 and we should push over 500 before the next one. The Main Event will likely become the second biggest WPTDeepStacks tournament in the tour’s history taking over from our run in 2017. There is also the possibility we set a new record to top our 1,684 entry field from 2016.

Some of our friends from Tampa are here and helping set the pace. Anthony Astarita arrived in town last night and taking his shot today. He already owns one of these titles after winning the WPTDeepStacks Tampa Main Event in 2016.

Wally Maddah is a fixture here when he isn’t back home. He won his first WSOP Circuit ring a few months ago and recorded his 100th SHRP tournament cash.

Kathy Liebert

Players continue to stream into the Event Center and they keep ticking off milestones along the way. With 350 entries so far, the prize pool surpassed $1.25 million with a lot of room to grow.

Kathy Liebert was here early and she is clearly one of the most successful players we will have in the Main Event. She has more than $6 million in career earnings, a WSOP bracelet, a handful of WSOP final tables, six WPT final tables, and dozens of tournament wins dating back to 1994.

Eric Afriat

The Flight C field is building quickly and the prize pool is on the verge of hitting $1.2 million early in the day with a lot of time to run it higher. We found two WPT Champions Club members in action with a few more expected before the end of the day.

Eric Afriat won his first WPT title during the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Championship in 2014 and picked his second one year ago in the Borgata Winter Poker Open. Tony Tran put his name on the WPT Champions Cup more recently than that. He won his first title back in October during the WPT Jacksonville stop.

Anthony Lategano

For each major series, we run an online drawing for a chance to win a seat into the Championship or Main Event. It is as simple as entering your name and the winner’s name is pulled out of the virtual hat before the finale gets underway.

Anthony Lategano had his name drawn and the Atlantic City player jumped at the chance to escape the cold and enter the WPTDeepStacks Lucky Hearts Poker Open Main Event. He arrived last night and was here at the start of the day.

Good luck to Anthony and stay tuned for details of next drawing for a $3,000,000 Guarantee Poker Showdown Championship seat.

Main Event Day 1C: Early Guarantee

$1,100 WPTDeepStacks Main Event
$1,000,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 1: 100/100 with a 100 ante

With 973 entries through the first two flights and 1,031 needed to hit the $1,000,000 Guarantee, the WPTDeepStacks Main Event was only 88 entries short of the mark when registration closed last night. That left a pretty easy mark this morning and the Main Event got there before a single card was dealt in Flight C.

It will continue climb higher into seven-digit territory throughout the day and we will know how high it gets before the night is through.

Main Event players sit down to 30,000 deep stacks and levels last 40 minutes until they reach the final table. Late registration is available until the start of Level 10 at 7:30pm and players are restricted to a single re-entry if their first stack does not fare well. The day will come to an end after Level 15 and those with chips will advance to Day 2 along with other 177 who survived the first two flights.

It will be a busy day in the Event Center and a lot of fun.

Chip counts through Flight B

  • $1,000,000 Guaranteed Prize Pool
  • Players begin with 30,000 in chips and 40-minute levels
  • Late registration/single re-entry (per flight) available until start of Level 10
