With 16 players left in the second event of the series, the first bubble of the 2018 SHRPO is here.

Pete Walsworth holds the chip lead on the bubble of the $360 Omaha 8-or-Better event with about 150,000 in chips. They will play hand-for-hand until they lose one more player. At that point, the final 15 players will all be in the money and guaranteed a cash of at least $763.

Phil Hui, Joel Harwood and John Holley are also still in the field and looking to add another cash to an already long poker resume.

Robert Campbell

On a flop of Jh6d2h, the player on the button got all in against Robert Campbell in the hijack. Campbell tabled 6c6s, giving him middle set, and was in great shape against the button’s KcKh.

The turn was the 4d and the river was the 5d, sending the pot to Campbell. Campbell was all in for 17,500 and had his opponent slightly covered. The button hit the rail and Campbell, who is a regular in all of the Hard Rock’s mixed game tournaments, chipped up at the beginning of the level.

Peter Jacobson

The player in the hijack raised to 800 and the player on the button called. The small blind called before Peter Jacobson three-bet to about 3,500 out of the big blind. The hijack called, while the button and small blind folded.

They were heads-up to a flop of 7s2s2d and Jacobson bet 7,000. The hijack moved all in for about 20,000 and Jacobson quickly called.

Jacobson was in the lead with QhQd against his opponent’s AcKd. The turn was the 2h and the river was the 9d. Jacobson won the pot and knocked out his opponent just before the end of the second level.

Peter Jacobson – 45,000

Sam Panzica was on the radar as an end-of-day notable but he quickly elevated to the Flight A chip leader. With two huge doubles in the last ten minutes, Panzica put 319,000 away for his Day 2 return on Sunday.

Michael Ortiz had the second biggest with 297,000 followed by Uri Kadosh with 275,500. Kadosh was at the top of the counts with two hands to go but sent a big double of his own to Scott Baumstein who will return with 235,000.

Full chip counts will be published as soon as they are available.

Brett Apter (left) and Chris Nomikos (right)

Flight A returned from their final short break of the day and they are down to the last nine tables. Math says it should get to seven before the end of Level 14 and they are moving it along.

Despite the late day pressures, Table 8 seems to be having a good time with some talent in the mix. Brett Apter, Chris Nomikos, Jeff Kessler, and James Salmon are spread around the felt trying to add to their bankroll. All but Apter already own one of our trophies but his $700K in career earnings makes up for it.

Jessica Dawley

The field is dropping fast and we’re down to 16 tables in Flight A with the expectation of cutting that in half before the end of the night after Level 14.

Table 5 has a pair of players trying to stick around for Day 2 and they’ve made it through big fields before. Jacquelyn Scott is one of our favorite regulars in the room and we were all happy when she won the 2015 WSOP Ladies Championship. Now she has some more company in that unique club after Jessica Dawley, another popular player in our games, earned that honor this summer by winning the 2018 WSOP Ladies Championship.

The two are sharing the same table this afternoon and we are sure the stories are entertaining.
