William Vo
William Vo

From 124 starting, the Seniors field is down to 18 and in the money. It took a few rounds of hand-for-hand play, but William Vo took control picking up AhJc and busting the KhQh of an unknown opponent. The pair got the money in preflop and Vo spiked an ace to guarantee the remaining 18 players a payday.

As he was quick to point out, Vo is no stranger to deep tournament runs. He finished 5th in last August’s WPT Legends of Poker Main Event for more than $113,000.

Marsha Wolak (Pompano Beach, FL)
Marsha Wolak (Pompano Beach, FL)

The Seniors Event more than doubled in size by the time they hit the first break and crossed over 100 entrants when they returned to their seats.

Marsha Wolak is among the crowd today and trying to earn her fifth career title. The four she has are impressive on their own. She owns a WSOP Circuit ring and an SHRP Seniors Event title from the 2015 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown, but Wolak hit her biggest score (and “trophy”) when she captured the WSOP Ladies Championship bracelet in 2011.

Event 3: Kessler Among Growing Field

$300 Seniors 50+ No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 1: 25/50
Total Entrants: 50

Jeff Kessler (Plantation, FL)
Jeff Kessler (Plantation, FL)

Seniors Event players are having a good time, plenty of laughs between hands with some needles flying. The only joking complaint was the tournament location.

“Why did you put us back in the corner!” one player laughed with tournament staff. “That’s a long walk for us old guys.”

The entrant count matched the age requirement soon after the start including Jeff Kessler trying for another title in this event. It’s been a while (he had to check with us for the exact year) but he earned the Seminole Hard Rock “Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open” title back in the glory days of 2013 when the series was held in the Poker Room.

Event 3: Friday Morning Seniors

$300 Seniors 50+ No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)

They will play 30-minute levels all day long with late registration and unlimited re-entries open until the start of Level 9 at 2:30pm. This is a one-day tournament and we’ll find our second champion of the series before the night is complete.
