$3,500 WPT Showdown Championship

Dan Colman

Former SHRPO Champ Dan Colman opened the action to 25,000 and Jonathan Kramer moved all-in for 175,000 next to act. Action folded back around to Colman and he quickly called.

“I didn’t see you open,” Kramer from the 1-seat said to Colman in the 9-seat.

“I was shoving anyway,” he laughed.

Colman: AsQh
Kramer: AcJs

The board ran Ts8h3d2h3s and no help for Kramer to send him out of the Championship.

Dan Colman – 620,000 (52 bb)
Jonathan Kramer – Eliminated in 60th place ($10,888)

Championship: Jason Brin Doubles Through Taylor Von Kriegenbergh

$3,500 WPT Showdown Championship
Level 21: 6,000/12,000 with a 2,000 ante
Players Remaining: 62 of 1,207

Jason Brin was all-in for his tournament life, putting in his last 125,000 against Taylor Von Kriegenbergh.

Brin: AdKc
Von Kriegenbergh: 8d8s

Brin needed to catch his over cards, or some magic/straight/flush cards, to stay alive. The 9s4s3c flop was no help, the 5c turn gave him additional gutshot wheel outs, and he hit the Kd river to double up.

Jason Brin – 255,000 (21 bb)
Taylor Von Kriegenbergh – 375,000 (31 bb)

Championship: Jason Mercier – 63rd Place ($10,888)

$3,500 WPT Showdown Championship
Level 21: 6,000/12,000 with a 2,000 ante
Players Remaining: 62 of 1,207

Jason Mercier

Jason Mercier three-bet shoved for 280,000 after an open from Lawder Lijo and Ubaid Habib raised to 600,000 from the big blind to isolate.

Mercier: JcTc
Habib: QhQd

Mercier needed help to stay in the game and picked up an open-ended straight draw on the KdQs7d flop with Habib’s set. the 2c turn was no help and Mercier was sent to the payout desk after the 4c river.

Ubaid Habib – 1,250,000 (104 bb)
Jason Mercier – Eliminated in 63rd place ($10,888)

Championship: Wally Maddah Eliminated by David Hubbard

$3,500 WPT Showdown Championship
Level 21: 6,000/12,000 with a 2,000 ante
Players Remaining: 65 of 1,207

Wally Maddah

Seminole Hard Rock Tampa poker ambassador Wally Maddah needed to produce magic right out of the gates today. He returned with only a few big blinds and put them to work on the first hand.

David Hubbard open/shoved from under the gun for 157,000 and Maddah put his last 41,000 in from the cutoff. The buttons and blinds released, cards were tabled, and Maddah was at risk.

Hubbard: AdAh
Maddah: AsTs

Maddah picked up a suited ace on the first hand but ran it right into the aces up Hubbar. The Tc4s3s flop gave him a glimpse of hope but the 4c turn and 3h river ended his day in 65th place.

David Hubbard – 215,000 (18 bb)
Wally Maddah – Eliminated in 66th place ($10,080)

Championship: Matt Affleck Leads 66 Returning to Day 3

$3,500 WPT Showdown Championship
Returning to Level 21: 6,000/12,000 with a 2,000 ante
Players Remaining: 66 of 1,207

Matt Affleck

The 2017 WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Championship is only 65 eliminations away from crowning our next big champ but that is still in the distant future. The 66 players remaining have a long day ahead if they want to be one of the final table six to advance to the live-streamed final table.

The levels switch up to 90-minutes today and will stay that way until only six players remain. It will be a marathon.

Seminole Hard Rock Poker Team member Matt Affleck returns with a lead he built up late in the day. His nearly 1.9 million stack has a nice advantage on the rest of the field and more than 700,000 better than second place Eric Beller.

Four-time WSOP bracelet winner Robert Mizrachi, 2015 WPT Lucky Hearts Poker Open final table member Kelly Minkin, Super High Roller champ Dietrich Fast, and poker pro Phil Hui all occupy the top ten starting Day 3 to set up to outstanding poker in the ballroom today.

Elsewhere in the Day 3 counts are 2014 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open champ (and WSOP Big One for One Drop bracelet winner) Dan Colman, eight-time WSOP winner Erik Seidel, Florida poker #1 Jason Mercier, Event 1 winner Hiep Doan, the Brothers Kenney (Bryn and Tyler), plus a lot of other top players.

Besides Affleck, fellow SHRP team member Darryll Fish is still moving right along and Seminole Hard Rock Tampa poker ambassador Wally Maddah has some work to do.

They’ll fire back up at noon with 66 players and are scheduled to continue play, with the occasional break, until only the final table six remain.

Top ten stacks:

  1. Matt Affleck – 1,893,000 (158 bb)
  2. Eric Beller – 1,155,000 (96 bb)
  3. Phil Hui – 1,120,000 (93 bb)
  4. Ubaid Habib – 1,061,000 (88 bb)
  5. Robert Mizrachi – 1,038,000 (87 bb)
  6. Dietrich Fast – 1,020,000 (85 bb)
  7. Brandon Caputo – 1,004,000 (84 bb)
  8. Chad Eveslage – 930,000 (78 bb)
  9. Kelly Minkin – 873,000 (73 bb)
  10. Lance Howard – 849,000 (71 bb)
