The Flight B field continues to climb towards the 160 entries we saw in Flight B with one more hour to register for this session.

Seminole Hard Rock Tampa poker ambassador Wally Maddah made the cross-state trek this afternoon in time to fire the evening flight. The Tampa pro does not appear in too many WSOP Circuit fields but he has plenty of success in his home state. Maddah also picked up a nice win this summer in Vegas when he won a daily Deep Stack event at the Rio during the WSOP for nearly $20,000.

With the WSOP Circuit in town, we expect to see a lot of their regular faces mixing it up with our local gang of grinders. They have a very dedicated group of players on their circuit and Vinny Moscati is one of the more successful.

Moscati owns six WSOP Circuit rings, good enough to put him a tie for tenth place overall with SHRP regular John Holley. He’s earned rings in Las Vegas, San Diego, Baltimore, and Tunica and now he’s looking to pick up his first in Florida.

Flight B is on the verge of pushing over triple digits and we’re seeing even more big names hit the felt. We’re on a pace to top the morning flight and push closer to the $500,000 guaranteed prize pool.

Seminole Hard Rock Poker team member Sheddy Siddiqui jumped into the action near the start and grinding his way in our first WSOPC event. Most of his WSOP work is done during the main series in Las Vegas and he’s seeking his fourth career Circuit cash. Siddiqui’s biggest career score came two summer’s ago when he finished fifth out of 7,275 players in the Millionaire Maker for $333,000.

Brian Hastings

Flight B kicked off right on the nose of 6 pm and we have a nice, tough crowd in early action including three-time WSOP bracelet winner Brian Hastings.

He owns his three WSOP titles in three different games, only one of which was in a No Limit Hold’em variation. Hastings won his first in 2012 by conquering the $10,000 Heads Up No Limit Hold’em event and he followed that up with two bracelets in 2015. One of those was a $10,000 Seven-Card Stud win and the other in $1,500 Ten-Game Mix.

Fredrik Wannius

In a raised pot, there was heads-up action between Fredrik Wannius and Alan Saltzman on a board of Qc7c6d. Saltzman was first to act and shoved having Wannius covered. Wannius called off his last 71,800 and the hands were up.

Wannius: KcQh for top pair
Saltzman: Js6s for a pair of sixes

Turn and River: 8cQs

Wannius’ pair improved to trips and he earned the full double. The hand grew Wannius’ stack to better than 150,000 with just a few minutes left in the day.
