Cards are back in the air and registration is closed on the first of eight flights for Event 1. The tournament clock shows 341 entries but we will wait for the official accounting to be complete to lock it in.

Among the players returning, it looks like James Hayes is leading them all. He sits with 124,000 after starting with 20,000 but he’s not running away from the rest. On his heels we have David Oshry (120,800) and Marc Sacheli (120,000) only a few 1K chips behind.

Rafael Reis

The entry count moved over 300 entries after the break and one of them belongs to a former champion. When this tournament set the record for the biggest field in Florida poker history, Rafael Reis was the last player standing out of 5,018 entries to collect more than $150,000.

Since that time, Reis continued to roll with dozens and dozens of cashes and a handful of final tables. That payday was the biggest of his career but he topped earlier this year with a $200K Borgata win. All of that leaves Reis on the verge of topping $1,000,000 earned in his poker career.

Fabio Fernandez

Flight A is back underway after the first break and the entry count nears 300 with four more hours to run it higher.

Fabio Fernandez has his seat in the game and came a long way to get here. He’s in town all the way from Colombia with friends for vacation and also some big money poker. Fernandez trekked more than 1,600 miles and hoping to bag today and take the rest of the week off to enjoy everything South Florida has to offer.

Francis Margaglione

Players waited a little while to get moving but they are showing up in numbers now. Less than 30 minutes after the start of the day, the entry count nearly doubled and there’s a steady line at the registration desk for a good start to the series.

SHRP regular Francis Margaglione was one of those in his seat at the start and looking for another trophy. He owns four tournament wins here including a RRPO title in 2016 when he outlasted nearly 1,500 entries to earn more than $28,000 in a $150 buy-in tournament.

The Hard Rock Event Center getting ready for the start of the series

With a short introduction and players instructions, tournament staff announced “shuffle up and deal” to kick off the 2018 Seminole Hard Rock “Rock ‘n’ Roll Poker Open”.

They will play four, 30-minute levels before taking the first break of the day. We have 82 entries already in the game at the start of play and we expect the crowd to build throughout the day and the weekend.

The wait is over and it’s time for another huge Seminole Hard Rock Poker series. The Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open is pulling no punches coming out of gates with a massive $1,000,000 Guarantee tournament to start things off.

The $360 buy-in Event 1 has eight starting flights and it has some big history. We used this eight-flight format in 2016 and it went on to build the biggest tournament field in Florida poker history. That tournament drew an incredible 5,018 entries and was conquered by SHRP regular Rafael Reis.

Can our players make history once again?

The first flight starts at 11am in the Hard Rock Event Center with two flights per day between now and Saturday evening. Players start out with 20,000 deep stacks and all Day 1 levels last 30 minutes long, extending to 40 minutes at the start of Day 2. Late registration is available until the start of Level 9 at 3:30pm with unlimited re-entries available during that time. Their day will come to end after Level 14 and all survivors will bag up for a return on Sunday.

The opening tournament will also utilize the big blind ante format; the player in the big blind will ante for the rest of the table.

It will be an exciting start to the series and we look forward to seeing our regular faces along with some new players coming to town for this big opener.
