After a handful of players saw a flop of Jh9d9c, Michael Duek checked the small blind, and Sagi Zommer moved all in from the big blind for about 700,000. The next three players folded, and Duek called with Qs9s for trip nines. Zommer turned over KdJc for two pair, jacks and nines, and he needed to improve to stay alive.

The turn card was the Qh, the river card was the 10d, and Duek turned a full house, nines full of queens, to win the pot and eliminate Zommer in 51st place.

Michael Duek  –  2,340,000  (78 bb)
Sagi Zommer  –  Eliminated in 51st Place  ($1,400)

Jimmy Kim is all in from the small blind for 115,000 with 6d6c, but he is in trouble against the 10d10c of Jeffrey Colpitts in the big blind.

The board came Qc8s4sJcKd, and the pocket tens held up for Colpitts to win the pot and eliminate Kim in 50th place.

Jeffrey Colpitts  –  4,100,000  (137 bb)
Jimmy Kim  –  Eliminated in 50th Place  ($1,400)

Jon Turner moved all in under the gun for 545,000, and the player in the big blind asked for a count and thought for a while before calling with AcQc. Turner turned over 7h7d, and needed his hand to hold to stay alive.

The board came Js7c5dQd8s, and the big blind briefly cheered the queen on the turn before somebody pointed out the seven on the flop. Turner won the pot with a set of sevens to double up in chips.

Jon Turner  –  1,165,000  (39 bb)

While Jon Turner was doubling up, Larry Klur was eliminated in 49th place at a different table.

Larry Klur  –  Eliminated in 49th Place  ($1,400)

After a flop of QhJh5h, Kevin Blewitt moved all in from the small blind for 225,000, and Angel Bracho called from the big blind with 10h5d for a pair of fives with a heart flush draw. Blewitt turned over AsAd for an overpair, and he needed his hand to hold to stay alive.

The turn card was the 8h, the river card was the 7h, and Bracho turned a heart flush to win the pot and eliminate Blewitt in 48th place.

Angel Bracho  –  1,850,000  (62 bb)
Kevin Blewitt  –  Eliminated in 48th Place  ($1,400)

Jon Turner

Jon Turner just doubled up to more than 2.5 million in chips when his KhKd held up against the cutoff’s QxQx on a board of 8d7d5h3c8s.

Turner was one of the multi-stack players who survived three different starting flights, so he has already cashed for $5,000 in this event ($2,500 for each stack after the first).

Jon Turner  –  2,565,000  (102 bb)

With 58 players remaining, the average chip stack is about 1.06 million (42 big blinds). The field is about 10 minutes away from the dinner break.

Brian Hastings

Larry Klur opened to 75,000 from the hijack and Brian Hastings shipped for his last 120,000 from the small blind. Klur called and it was a cooler for the three-time WSOP bracelet winner.

Klur: AhAs
Hastings: JdJs

Hastings needed a lot of help but missed the 8s7h5sKhTs board to exit the tournament. He picked up $1,400 for his Day 2 cash along with his $2,500 multi-stack payout from earlier.

Larry Klur – 1,550,000 (62 bb)
Brian Hastings – Eliminated

Wally Maddah

Wally Maddah three-bet shoved for 300,000 from the hijack after a middle position raise to 55,000. After a short tank, his opponent called and Maddah was ahead.

Maddah: AdKd
Opponent: QdJd

Maddah needed to dodge the two live cards but the QcJs3s was unkind. The 5c turn was no help and he could not catch his gutshot on the 5s river to exit.

The tournament is down to the last eight tables as Level 21 nears an end.

Ultimate Re-Entry: Michael Ortiz Storms Ahead

Michael Ortiz

Out of nowhere, former SHRP champ Michael Ortiz went from middle of the pack to a huge chip leader. He’d already built up a nice stack when he was in a big pot, heads-up with the board reading JcTh8h4c5s.

He checked and his opponent moved all in for 550,000. Ortiz thought for a few minutes, slid in a stack to call, and his opponent flipped over KhKs. Ortiz quickly tabled Td8d for tens up to send a player out and move up to 2,910,000.

Michael Johnson

Scott Baumstein looked like he was going to be the leader before going into the second break but that was not the case. Apparently, Michael Johnson pulled a huge double through Baumstein as the clock was ticking down to give him the lead.

Johnson returned to a couple towers of chips worth 1,965,000 and that is good enough for the lead heading into Level 21. Jeffrey Colpitts sits in second followed by Song O.

Here are your stacks over a million:

Michael Johnson – 1,965,000 (98 bb)
Jeffrey Colpitts – 1,640,000 (82 bb)
Song O – 1,550,000 (78 bb)
Angel Braco – 1,405,000 (70 bb)
Phil Hui – 1,235,000 (62 bb)

Scott Baumstein

Scott Baumstein had his table break and it seems to be working out. His stack now sits at 1,780,000 and it looks like some of that was at the expense of Soheb Porbandarwala.

Porbandarwala dropped under one million but is spinning it back up. He opened the action for 35,000 from early position and the big blind player came along to the 5c5s3s flop. The big blind checked, Porbandarwala bet 20,000 and picked up a call.

The Qs turn prompted the big blind player to bet 45,000 and Porbandarwala called. The board finished 7d and his opponent moved all in for 339,000. After a little bit to think it through, Porbandarwala called, his opponent tabled AhTc, and Porbandarwala showed 6h6s to take the pot while sending one out. Now he’s back over 1,000,000 and rebuilding.
