Eisen turned over Ah8d, and needed his hand to hold to stay alive.

The board came Ac9s2d6h9d, and Eisen won the pot with two pair, aces and nines, to double up in chips.

Brandon Eisen  –  178,000  (30 bb)

A short while later, with the final board showing As9c5hKh4h and about 47,000 already in the pot, Manny Tarich checked from the hijack, and Corey Burbick moved all in from the button for 32,000.

Tarich asked for a count before he called with 10c4c for a pair of fours, but Burbick turned over KsJh to win the pot with a pair of kings and double up in chips.

With the board showing 7h4c3s6d on the turn and about 200K already in the pot, Philip Wojtuniecki moved all in under the gun for about 290,000, covering Nick Yunis, who was UTG+1 with about 100K in his stack.

Yunis tanked for a long time before he eventually called with AhKh for ace high. But Wojtuniecki turned over Ad4d for a pair of fours. Yunis would need a king on the river to stay alive.

The river card paired the board with the 6c, and Wojtuniecki won the pot with two pair, sixes and fours, to eliminate Yunis in ninth place.

Philip Wojtuniecki  –  590,000  (98 bb)
Nick Yunis  –  Eliminated in 9th Place  ($3,393)

This was the second top-10 finish of the day for Yunis, who was finished 10th in the Main Event this afternoon to earn $19,380.

The final eight players have an average chip stack around 288,000 (48 big blinds).

Kenneth Frey  –  75,000  (15 bb)

A short while later, Frey was all in from the cutoff for 62,000 with Ad9h, but he was dominated by the Ac10d of Jaime Wiegrefe in the small blind.

When Zinno was eliminated, there was already a hand in progress at the other table between Nick Yunis and Danny Monosson.

Monosson was all in for 98K with QsQc, and he was a favorite to double up against the 8h8d of Yunis, who barely had him covered with 101K.

But the board came 8s4h2s6c8c, and Yunis flopped a set of eights and rivered quads to win the pot and eliminate Monosson in 10th place.

Nick Yunis  –  212,000  (35 bb)
Danny Monosson  –  Eliminated in 10th Place  ($2,990)

Event 23: Ronit Chamani Takes a Penalty But Survives Against Aces; Phil Hui Collects Another Bounty

$1,650 Purple Chip Bounty NLH (Re-Entry)
$100,000 Guaranteed | Structure | Payouts
Level 11: 800/1,600 with a 1,600 ante
Players Remaining: 26 of 115

There was some confusion at Table 16, with some raises and reraises leading Ronit Chamani to think it was an all-in situation, so she called and flipped over her AhKc. Thinking Chamani was all in, Chad Trentacosta turned over his hand as well, showing AsAc.

When they realized that nobody was actually all in (the last raise was to 31,600, and Chamani still had 16,000 behind), a floorperson was called over for a ruling.

It was ruled that neither player was all in, so for revealing her cards with action pending, Chamani would receive a one-round penalty after the hand. But she would still keep the 16,000 in her stack to see the flop. Trentacosta declared that he was all in dark before the flop.

The flop came 4d3h2h, giving both players a gutshot straight draw, and Chamani a backdoor flush draw. But Chamani quickly folded, forfeiting the pot to Trentacosta, adding to his chipleading stack.

Chamani finished the hand with 16,000 in chips and a one-round penalty.

Chad Trentacosta  –  270,000  (169 bb)
Ronit Chamani  –  16,000  (10 bb)

At another table, with the board showing Ks9d8d3s, a player in middle position gets it all in with KdQh (pair of kings) against Phil Hui’s 3h3c (set of threes) in the big blind.

The short-stacked player is drawing dead, and the meaningless river card pairs the board with the Kc. Hui wins the pot with a full house, threes full of kings, to eliminate his opponent and collect another bounty.

Phil Hui  –  183,000  (114 bb) + $500 Bounty

With 26 players remaining, the average chip stack is about 88,500 (55 big blinds).

Event 23: Scott Efron Eliminated by Ronit Chamani

Ronit Chamani

After a flop of 10d7c6h, Scott Efron was all in with 8d8c (pair of eights, gutshot straight draw), but he needed to improve to stay alive against Ronit Chamani’s KhKd.

The turn card was the Jh, the river was the Qd, and the pocket kings held up for Chamani to win the pot and eliminate Efron from the tournament, claiming the $500 bounty.

Ronit Chamani  –  145,000  (145 bb) + $500 Bounty
Scott Efron  –  Eliminated
