Sergio Giha

There was little action over the first half of Level 24 after Dien Le doubled, though James Carroll sent about a quarter of his huge stack to others at his table. But he was still comfortable.

Carroll opened to 65,000 from middle position and Sergio Giha moved all in from the button for 230,000. The blinds released and Carroll called.

Carroll: Jh9d
Giha: KdJc

Giha was looking good for a double but Carroll paired his nine on the Ac9h8s flop. Neither the Qc turn nor 7c river were any help for Giha and he was eliminated in 13th place.

James Carroll – 3,200,000 (107 bb)
Sergio Giha – Eliminated in 13th Place ($8,755)

Dien Le

Action folded to Dien Le on the button and he moved all in for 435,000. Cosmin Joldis called from the small blind and James Carroll folded his big.

Le: Kd8c
Joldis: 7d7s

It was a race and Le needed to improve to double. The AhQcTd flop was no help although Le added a gutshot straight draw. The 2c turn changed nothing but the Jc river gave Le the ace-high straight to double up.

Dien Le – 930,000 (31 bb)
Cosmin Joldis – 1,100,000 (37 bb)

Skip McDonough

Eliud Ortiz was eliminated soon after the return from break then Skip McDonough got the field down to 13 players with back-to-back big hands.

First up, it was Dmitry Savelyev all in but his As2h ran into McDonough’s QdQs. Nothing on the Jd7d2s9d8h board can save Savelyev and he was eliminated in 15th place.

The very next hand, Stuart Greenbaum opened to 60,000 and Santana Noronha shipped for 265,000 next to act. It folded to McDonough and he moved all in over the top to get a fold from Greenbaum.

McDonough: KdKh
Noronha: JsJh

The Td7c3hKc4c board was no help to Noronha to send him out in 14th place. Queens and kings in back-to-back hands for McDonough to move his stack higher while getting the field shorter.

Skip McDonough – 1,250,000 (50 bb)

Brown: KsJh
Ojeda: Ah6h

Ojeda was ahead for the double but Brown paired his king on the Kd6s4s flop. The 7h turn was no help to Ojeda and he was eliminated after the 4d river.

Santana Noronha

On the next hand after Matthew Zarcadoolas was eliminated, Santana Noronha opened from under the gun and then the stacks started going in. Saber Salum Penayo shoved, Rocky Hicks shoved, and Santana Noronha was sitting there waiting.

“Look at this!” he yelled Zarcadoolas as he was walking away.

Noronha called all in as well. Hicks had the biggest stack at ~300,000 with Noronha holding ~175,000 and Penayo the shortest of the three.

Noronha: AcAs
Hicks: AhQd
Penayo: KcQh

Noronha was ahead and the board ran clean 7h5h3cTd4h to send him the pot. Penayo was eliminated in 23rd place and Hicks was knocked near the felt, eliminated soon after.

But not before Paul Chang was knocked out nearby while Noronha was picking up aces.

Santana Noronha – 525,000 (26 bb)

21st: Rocky Hicks – $4,565
22nd: Paul Chang – $4,565
23rd: Saber Salum Penayo – $4,565

Rocky Hicks

Matthew Zarcadoolas

Matthew Zarcadoolas took his shot to double up, getting his 275,000 stack in the middle and Stuart Greenbaum had him at risk.

Greenbaum: Ac9c
Zarcadoolas: KdQd

Zarcadoolas had two live, suited cards to double. He did not pair the TsTd7d flop but added a flush draw. The 3h turn was a blank and he was sent out after the 2h river.

Then things went sideways for a bit.

To be continued

Stuart Greenbaum – 1,545,000 (77 bb)
Matthew Zarcadoolas – Eliminated in 24th Place ($4,565)
