The players return from their second break to begin Level 9, with increased blinds of 500-1,000 with a big blind ante of 1,000.

The entry count hit 429 in the middle of Level 6 to put the combined total at 1,493 for SHRPO Event 1. That is good enough to surpass the $500,000 guarantee on the tournament with a lot of time to run it up.

Late registration will remain open in Flight C until 2:30 pm with Flight D starting at 6 pm and two more big flights tomorrow.

Flight C players returned from their first (staggered) break and everyone hit Level 5 at the same time. They did not reach the $500,000 guarantee before the break but they will hit it soon after.

Unfortunately for Jeff Kessler, he may have to help add to the entry count again. His turned nut flush went down to the rivered full house of Vitor Coelho to leave him with a tiny handful of black chips. He went all-in in the dark the next hand but could not miracle a small save.

Flight C jumped over 300 entries after an hour of play and inching closer to the 1,493 combined needed to match the guarantee.

With the influx of new players, we’re seeing some more friendly faces coming back to the Seminole Ballroom. Among them, we found Lexy Gavin, Bob Mathers, Steve Buckner, Ory Hen, Marc Duquette, and Willie Wiggins.

Flight C saw nearly 100 new faces over the first level and the tournament is very close to pushing the prize pool over the $500,000 guarantee. It will get there before registration closes at 2:30 pm which means a $1,000,000 prize pool is in play.

More friends are joining the field including 2020 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Player of the Year David Nathaniel Jr and multiple SHRP champ Rafael Lima.

Lima is having himself a nice run in 2021. He booked a win in February in the Escalator V Series, followed that up with the Poker Showdown $1,700 Purple Chip Bounty trophy, and won another title during the May Deep Stacks Poker Series.

After a short reading of the rules, tournament staff put cards in the air for SHRPO Event 1 Flight C. There are 166 entries at the start to put the combined total at 1,230 and the tournament is less than $100K from reaching its $500,000 guarantee.

Players will work their way through the first four levels of the day before taking a break from the action.

We are heading into the first weekend of the 2021 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open and we expect to see a lot of our old friends and new ones taking part in the action. Friday gets underway with Flight C of Event 1 at 10 am, a $400 buy-in tournament that will meet its $500,000 guarantee later today.

Players start with 20,000 deep stacks and all Day 1 levels last 30 minutes, going up to 40 minutes on Day 2. Late registration is available until the start of Level 9 at 2:30 pm with re-entries limited to a single one per flight.

Flight C will continue until only 12.5% of the field remains and they will advance to Day 2 on Sunday at 1 pm in the money.

It will be a great weekend of poker in the Seminole Ballroom.
