Daniel Rambally
Chipleader Daniel Rambally

Flight E has come to an end with 82 survivors from a field of 592. The two chipleaders were seated at the same table, and when the last hand finished, Daniel Rambally had a 1K lead over Nigel Murray.

The full list of official chip counts will be posted a little later tonight, but here is an unofficial look at the top of the leaderboard:

1.  Daniel Rambally  –  372,000  (93 bb)
2.  Nigel Murray  –  371,000  (93 bb)
3.  Jonathan Gordon  –  357,500  (89 bb)
4.  Steve Cohen  –  321,000  (80 bb)

Flight F is already underway, with registration open until the end of the second break, around 9:30 pm. The two final starting flights will be held tomorrow at 11:00 am and 5:00 pm.

Event 1 Flight E: The Unknown Chipleader Is Now Known, But No Longer Chipleader

$400 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)
$1,000,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 14:  1,500/3,000 with a 3,000 ante
Flight E Players Remaining:  90 of 592

Jonathan Gordon
Jonathan Gordon, the unknown chipleader from the last break, has returned to his seat.

Remember the unknown chipleader from the last break? He had the chip lead, but didn’t return from break for quite a while. He eventually returned, and we found out he is Jonathan Gordon, a regular at the Coconut Creek poker room. He had some phone calls to make and since he had “walking around” chips, he decided to take a break.

Gordon still has a big stack, but he’s no longer chipleader, as Nigel Murray and Daniel Rambally have both surpassed him at Table 11.

Nigel Murray  –  370,000  (123 bb)
Daniel Rambally  –  365,000  (122 bb)
Jonathan Gordon  –  335,000  (112 bb)

Back at Gordon’s table, Michael Tait was in a position to finish the day with about 150K when the player on the button moved all in for about 67,000, and Tait called from the big blind with AhQs. The button turned over Qh10h, and was dominated and facing elimination with about 20 minutes left in the day.

But the board came 6s4h2s5h8h, and the button rivered a heart flush to win the pot and knock Tait down to 11,500.

Michael Tait  –  11,500  (4 bb)

The next hand, Tait got it all in from the small blind with KdJd against the Ks9d of Juan Endara in the hijack.

The board came Jc6d5h4h7h, and Tait paired his jack on the flop to win this smaller pot and double up in chips.

Michael Tait  –  27,500  (9 bb)

Juan Endara
Juan Endara

Juan Endara lost that pot, but a hand or two later a player was all in from middle position with AsAd, and Endara had him covered with KdJc from UTG+1.

The board came 7c6c4cQd10c, and Endara rivered a club flush to crack the pocket aces and eliminate his opponent from Flight E.

Juan Endara  –  75,000  (25 bb)

This flight is about to bag up for the night, so stay tuned for chipleaders, followed by official chip counts.

Event 1 Flight E: Unknown Chip Leader

$400 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)
$1,000,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 12: 1,000/2,000 with a 2,000 ante
Flight E Players Remaining: 180 of 592

The last break has come and gone and we have one massive stack waiting for its owner. There is a stack of 323,000 sitting on Table 22 but the player for that seat is taking advantage of his/her lead to extend their break.

We will track down the player when they come back but 15 minutes into Level 12 and still a no show.

That stack is good enough to ride out the night and would be a top ten stack if it stayed at that point.

Event 1 Flight F: Friday Night Poker

$400 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)
$1,000,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 1:  100/100

The weekend is in full swing and the Seminole Ballroom is ready for a big Friday evening crowd. Event 1 moved closer to the $1,000,000 guarantee in Flight E and Flight F will get it almost there.

The first five flights combined to put 2,185 entries into the tournament with three huge chances to run it higher.

Event 1 players will start with 20,000 deep stacks and blind levels last 30 minutes on Day 1, increasing to 40 minutes on Day 2. Late registration is available until the start of Level 9 at 9:30 pm with unlimited re-entries. Flight F will come to an end when Level 14 is complete and survivors will bag up for a Day 2 return on Sunday at noon.

Cards fly at 5 pm and we will track them throughout the night.

  • $1,000,000 Guaranteed Prize Pool
  • Players begin with 20,000 in chips
  • Day 1 levels last 30 minutes; Day 2 levels last 40 minutes
  • Late registration/re-entry available until start of Level 9
  • Day 1 will end after Level 14 or Tournament Director discretion

Peter Walsworth could be excused if he decided to skip today’s flight in Event 1. But he’s here with us this afternoon less than 24 hours after cashing a $200K ticket in New Jersey.

Walsworth made a detour between Tampa and Hollywood to head to Atlantic City to play the Borgata Fall Poker Open Championship. He made that final table yesterday and picked up a $197,000 payout for a second-place finish after a three-way deal.

Then Walsworth hopped a plane and now playing through the big Flight E field.

ICYMI: Barry Levy Bounces Back for HORSE Title; New Overall Leader in Event 1

Barry Levy
Barry Levy

It was another busy time in the Seminole Ballroom on Thursday with two more flights of the $1,000,000 guarantee opening tournament and we awarded the second trophy of the series.

Event 3 was a $400 buy-in H.O.R.S.E. tournament that required players to mix it up to build their stack. In the end, it was a bit of redemption for Barry Levy. He made the final table of last year’s RRPO H.O.R.S.E. tournament but had to settle for second place.

This year he closed it out for his fifth career H.O.R.S.E. and second such title here to go along with his 2011 Showdown win. He earned $8,425 with Charles Odenz taking $5,615 for his runner-up finish.

H.O.R.S.E. results:

1st:  Barry Levy  –  $8,425 + RRPO Trophy
2nd:  Charles Odenz  –  $5,615
3rd:  Matthew Smith  –  $3,805
4th:  Richard Shtrax  –  $2,675
5th:  Kevin Love  –  $1,955
6th:  Aaron Kupin  –  $1,485
7th:  Bobby Leff  –  $1,180
8th:  Roy Arkin  –  $975
9th:  Craig Chait  –  $840
10th:  Yuval Bronshtein  –  $840
11th:  Carey Pickus  –  $765

Thursday also saw Event 1 hit the midpoint of the tournament. Flights C and D combined to add more than 850 entries and pushed the tournament total up to 1,593.

Flight C saw 65 players advance to Day 2 and Haing Thu took the overall lead as the only player so far over 400K. His 409,500 was good enough to take the top spot from Raminder Singh but it will be tough to hold with a huge weekend crowd expected.

The night flight put another 51 players into Day 2 and Perla Ojeda bagged the biggest in the late evening. The 363,500 stack she bagged up put her fifth overall and in great shape coming back.

Other notables advancing on Thursday included David Bradshaw, James Salmon, Stuart Paterson, Daniel Fuhs, Jeff Kessler, Cherri Beatty, Matthew Yorra, and Ido Ashkenazi.

  1. Haing Thu – 409,500
  2. Raminder Singh – 387,000
  3. Gilles Dalco – 381,500
  4. Alfredo Guevara – 379,000
