Dan Shak (pictured) has the chip lead over Elio Fox by less than one big blind.

Day 1 of the Super High Roller comes to an end with just three players remaining. Here are their official chip counts, followed by the prize pool:

Seat 1.  Dan Shak  –  975,000  (65 bb)
Seat 2.  Giuseppe Iadisernia  –  560,000  (37 bb)
Seat 3.  Elio Fox  –  965,000  (64 bb)

1st:  $500,000
2nd:  $305,000
3rd:  $190,000
4th:  Ali Imsirovic  –  $130,000
5th:  Chris Hunichen  –  $100,000

There were 25 total entries in this $50,000 buy-in event, creating a total prize pool worth $1,225,000 to surpass the $1 million guarantee.

The field was made up of 17 unique players, with three entering twice, one entering three times (David Peters), and one entering four times (Jake Schindler). None of the players who fired more than one bullet finished in the money.

Bryn Kenney was the unfortunate player to bust on the money bubble when he three-bet all in for 14 bb with 9s9c, but he ran into the QsQc of Giuseppe Iadisernia.

Fifth-place finisher Chris Hunichen earned his entry into this event by winning Tuesday’s $5,100 Mega Satellite, making his $100,000 min-cash much more profitable.

The final three players agreed to delay tomorrow’s Day 2 start until 2pm, which gives them an extra two hours before play begins.

After a flop of AhQhQd, Dan Shak bet 125,000 from the small blind, Ali Imsirovic thought for a while before he moved all in for about 290,000, and Shak called with Qc8c for trip queens.

Imsirovic turned over AsJc for two pair, aces and queens, and he needed to improve to stay alive.

The turn card was the 6d, the river card was the 9d, and the trip queens held up for Shak to win the pot and eliminate Imsirovic in fourth place with about five minutes remaining in the night.

Dan Shak raised under the gun to 25,000, and Chris Hunichen called from the cutoff.

Both players checked to the turn on a board of KsJc3h5d, Shak bet 30,000, and Hunichen called.

The river card was the 9d, Shak bet 80,000, and Hunichen thought for a while before betting enough to put Shak all in.

Shak quickly called all in for 202,000, saying they might have the same hand. Hunichen said, “Not if you have the nuts.”

Shak showed Qh10h for the nuts — a king-high straight. Hunichen turned over Kh9h for two pair, and Shak won the pot to double up in chips.

Before that hand, Hunichen was telling the table the story of how he won his seat in the satellite here at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

Late in the satellite, James Calderero had the chip lead, and Hunichen was second in chips. Calderaro raised preflop, and Hunichen called with pocket queens, saying he’d normally reraise in the spot, but he didn’t see the need to play a big pot against the only player who could bust him.

The flop came 9x9x3x, and one of the other players slammed the table and said something like, “Y’all are lucky I folded,” which seemed like a pretty good tell that he had folded a nine. Calderaro and Hunichen both checked. The turn card was a Jx, and they checked again.

The river card was a Qx, giving Hunichen top full house. He bet, and Calderaro shoved with pocket jacks. Ouch. That gave Hunichen a huge chip lead, and he went on to win his seat into this event.

Here are the updated chip counts, followed by the payouts:

The action has been relatively light during Level 13, but in the final few minutes, Giuseppe Iadisernia limped UTG+1 for 8,000, Sam Soverel moved all in from the small blind for 153,000, and Iadisernia asked for an exact count and thought for a bit before he called with AcKh.

The board came Jh8c6c4c3c, and Iadisernia was ahead the entire way, winning with an ace-high flush on the river to eliminate Soverel in seventh place.

In the last hand before the break, Taylor Black raised from the hijack, and Elio Fox called from the big blind.

The flop came 5h4s2h, Fox checked, Black bet, and Fox called. The turn card was the Kc, Fox checked, Black bet, and Fox called.

The river card paired the board with the 2s, Fox checked, and Black moved all in for about 90,000.

Fox called with Ad2c for trip deuces, and Black turned over AhJh for an ace-high bluff (missed his flush and straight draws). Black is eliminated in eighth place as Fox catapults to a huge chip lead, with more than twice as many chips as anyone else.
