Event 14: Blake Purivs Eliminates Chris Trybus

$570 No Limit Hold’em Six-Max (Single Re-Entry)
Level 18: 3,000/6,000 with a 1,000 ante
Players Remaining: 15 of 312

On a flop of AhJd3d, Chris Trybus gets all in for about 85,000 out of the big blind against Blake Purvis in the small blind.

Trybus shows KhJh and needs to fade a diamond against Purvis’ Kd7d.

“Yes, I have the best hand,” said Trybus as the dealer began to burn and turn.

The turn was the 5c, keeping Trybus in the lead, but the river was the 2d to give Purvis a flush and eliminate Trybus in 16th place for $1,732.

Blake Purvis – 295,000
Chris Trybus – Eliminated

Event 14: Jon Brody In the Money Again

“Five in a row,” Jon Brody said within earshot of a reporter. “Why don’t you put that in your little blog?”

Brody was referencing his recent results here at Seminole Hard Rock, where he says he’s cashed in each of the last five events he’s played. These were his prior results from this series:

Event 1: 198th place ($695)
Event 9: 232nd place ($1,228)
Event 13: 6th place ($3,600)
Event 14: TBD
Event 47: 4th place ($1,134)

Event 47 was not a trophy event, but it’s still quite an impressive effort from the local grinder. His biggest claim to tournament fame was a runner-up finish in the a $2,000 WSOP event in 2003, and he has more than $550,000 in total live cashes.

Event 14: Luis Santoni Doubles Through Stepan Gusak

$570 Six-Max No Limit Hold’em (Single Re-Entry)
Level 17: 2,000/4,000 with a 500 Ante
Players Remaining: 31 of 312

Stepan Gusak opened with an under-the-gun raise, and Luis Santoni three-bet shoved for 49,500 in the big blind. Gusak called to put him at risk.

Gusak: Ac9s
Santoni: KdQd

The board ran out Kc4s3s4h2h, and Santoni doubled up with kings up.

Luis Santoni – 104,000 (26 bb)

Event 14: Break Time

$570 Six-Max No Limit Hold’em (Single Re-Entry)
Level 15: 1,200/2,400 with a 400 Ante
Players Remaining: 36 of 312

The field has just gone on a break at the end of Level 15 with 36 players remaining. Zoltan Czinkota is the chip leader and the only player to crest the 300,000-chip milestone so far after some profitable encounters with Michael Mizrachi. The latter is still third in chips, though, and one of three others who have more than 200,000 at break.

Here are the four setting the pace at the moment:

Zoltan Czinkota – 328,000 (137 bb)
Matt Bond – 286,000 (119 bb)
Michael Mizrachi – 256,000 (107 bb)
Zo Karim – 212,000 (88 bb)

Event 14: Bubble Bursts

$570 Six-Max No Limit Hold’em (Single Re-Entry)
Level 15: 1,200/2,400 with a 400 Ante
Players Remaining: 37 of 312

On the first hand of hand-for-hand play, the bubble burst in Event 14.

Anthony Spinella opened to 5,600 under the gun, and the player on the button moved all in for 6,100 total. Stepan Gusak three-bet to 17,400 in the big blind, and Spinella called the remainder to create action on the side.

Both live players checked through the KsKh4h flop, and the turn was the Ad. A bet of 12,500 from Gusak was enough to fold Spinella out of the way and cue the showdown:

Gusak: AsAh
Button: TdTh

Gusak already had the pot locked up with an unbeatable full house, and the river was the meaningless 5d.

With that elimination, the 36 remaining players are all in the money. Each of them will earn at least $1,014 this evening, with a trophy and a top prize of nearly $33,000 reserved for the winner.

Event 14: More For Michael Mizrachi

$570 Six-Max No Limit Hold’em (Single Re-Entry)
Level 14: 1,000/2,000 with a 300 Ante
Players Remaining: 41 of 312

Just the tail end of a pot here, but one worth mentioning.

Justin Liberto’s table recently broke, and his new seat is not a great one by any measure. He’s now on the direct right of Michael Mizrachi, who is playing the majority of pots and amassing quite a chip stack.

In the most recent hand, Liberto (cutoff) and Mizrachi (button) were heads up on the river of a Ks4s2c9sKd board. Liberto checked, and Mizrachi bet 35,000 into a pot of about that much. Liberto tanked and called with QsQd, but Mizrachi showed KcQc to win the pot with trip kings.

Mizrachi is dragging pots so fast he can’t even stack the chips in between them, but it looks like he’s closing in on the 300,000-chip mark in a hurry.

Michael Mizrachi – 270,000 (135 bb)
Justin Liberto – 52,000 (26 bb)

In a battle of the blinds, the small blind completed for 2,000, and Michael Mizrachi raised to 7,000 in the big blind. The small blind called. The flop came QdJs6d, and the small blind led out for 15,000. Mizrachi moved all in for 98,800 total, and his opponent called to put him at risk.

Small blind: Jx3x (pair of jacks)
Mizrachi: KsKd (pair of kings)

The turn was the 7d and the river the Jd, and Mizrachi doubled up with a king-high flush.

Michael Mizrachi – 199,000 (100 bb)

Event 14: Aaron Mermelstein Eliminated by Joseph Montervino

$570 Six-Max No Limit Hold’em (Single Re-Entry)
Level 12: 600/1,200 with a 200 Ante
Players Remaining: 57 of 312

Aaron Mermelstein opened to 2,400 second to act, and Joseph Montervino defended his big blind.

The flop came Td8h6h, and Mermelstein continued for 2,000. Montervino check-raised to 6,000, Mermelstein moved all in for 24,700 total, and Montervino quickly called to put him at risk.

Mermelstein: QhJh
Montervino: 6d8d

Mermelstein was behind but had plenty of outs, and the Kc on the turn opened up three more for him. The river was the 8c, though, and Montervino eliminated the two-time WPT Champion with a full house.

Joseph Montervino – 58,300 (49 bb)
Aaron Mermestein – Eliminated

Event 14: Ryan Eriquezzo Knocked Down, Out

$570 Six-Max No Limit Hold’em (Single Re-Entry)
Level 11: 500/1,000 with a 100 Ante
Players Remaining: 78 of 312

Mohammad Arani (Plano, TX)
Mohammad Arani (Plano, TX)

Ryan Eriquezzo opened to 2,300 in middle position, and Mohammad Arani three-bet to 5,300 in the cutoff. The button called, and Eriquezzo called the remainder to see a three-way flop.

It came Ah8c7c. Arani continued for 6,200, the button folded, and Eriquezzo check-called to see the turn heads-up. It was the Jd, and both players checked. The river was the 8d, and Eriquezzo led for 17,000. Arani called instantly. It quickly became clear that Eriquezzo couldn’t win, so Arani took his cue to show AsKd to collect the pot with aces up.

On the next hand, Eriquezzo open-shoved for about 9,000 with 5d5c, and Joe Ebanks woke up with JsJh in the blinds.

“I’m going to hit a five,” Eriquezzo said as the flop came KdQs3d. “Or diamonds,” he said before the blank 2c turn. “Or nothing.” The river was the 4h, and it was “nothing”. Eriquezzo was eliminated.

Mohammad Arani – 155,000 (155 bb)
Joe Ebanks – 55,000 (55 bb)
Ryan Eriquezzo – Eliminated

Event 14: Mike Wang Eliminated by Zo Karim

Players Remaining: 90 of 312

Zo Karim (Orlando, FL)
Zo Karim (Orlando, FL)

Mike Wang opened to 1,700 under the gun, the player on the button called, and Zo Karim defended his big blind to make it a three-way flop. It came 9c6c6h, and Wang continued for 3,000. The button called, but Karim check-raised to 9,400. Wang moved all in for about 25,500 total, the button folded, and Karim quickly called to put Wang at risk.

Wang: Qs9h (nines up)
Karim: Ah6d (trip sixes)

The turn 8h and river 5s completed the board to seal Wang’s elimination.

Zo Karim – 90,000 (113 bb)
Mike Wang – Eliminated
