Event 16: Another Belly Buster

$2,200 Buy-In Six-Max No Limit Hold’em Freeze-Out
Level 5: 100/200/25 ante

Double belly buster draws are a rare and wonderful thing at the table, we saw one early in the day and had another one at the same table.

Brian Wachs shoved all-in with the board reading Ts9s7c and Eric Panayitou took his time making a decision.

Wachs tried talking about the hand with Panayitou but was warned by the dealer.

“I’ll just give him the People’s Eyebrow instead,” Wachs said before staring him down.

Panayitou called, just barely have Wachs covered, with KsJs for the double belly buster with bonus flush outs against top pair. More than half the deck was good for Panayitou and he explained this to Wachs just as the dealer popped the Qc on the turn to complete the straight draw. He locked up the hand to send Wachs out and move up to 30,000.

Event 16: Grothe Gets One

Level 3: 100/200

Paul McCaffery’s day wasn’t going well from the start with less than half his starting stack coming back from the break. He moved all-in for his final 2,700 with the board reading 9c8c6h.

August Grothe was the only one who looked him up with the old double belly buster draw QhTd. McCaffery was holding middle pair 8d7c then fell behind on the 7s turn. He was still alive with full house outs but blanked the Ad to go out early.

Event 16: The Slow Grind

$2,200 Buy-In Six-Max No Limit Hold’em Freeze-Out
Level 2: 50/100

It’s slow going in Event 16 with a little more caution shown by the players as they only have one shot at the tournament. More players are getting massages than are mixing it up in hands at the moment. The player count clicked over 90 at the mid-point of Level 2 with Joe Kuether, John Racener, and Darryll Fish a few of the late arrivals with more big names waiting until later in the game.
