On a flop of AsTh6s, Christian Harder checked from the big blind and Thomas Midena bet 2,000 on the button.

Harder check-raised to 4,500 and Midena went into the tank for several minutes before raising to about 20,000. Harder called and was all in for 16,300.

Harder showed Td6c, good for bottom two pair, and was in the lead against Midena’s Ks9h.

The turn was the 5h and the river was the Jh to send the pot to Harder and give him the double up.

Christian Harder – 36,600
Thomas Midena – 20,000

Championship Day 1: Lodden Thinks

SHRPO $5 Million GTD Championship
Level 6: 300/600 with a 75 ante
Players: 824

Lodden Thinks Shaun Deeb

The majority of players seem to be enjoying themselves this evening, but the group at Table 15 are having a particularly good time. Habitual prop bettor Shaun Deeb struck up a game of Lodden Thinks with Justin Young and Aaron Katz.

In addition to the usual prompts about sexual partners and number of televisions in the building, some of the more interesting questions posed so far include:

  • If James Mackey was being paid $10,000 per minute to sit in the mid-summer Florida sunshine with no sunscreen, food, or drink, how long would he last?
  • What is the hourly rate Justin Young would require to wear a ball gag while he was at the table for an entire World Series of Poker?
  • If Mike had to kill one person per day, how many days would he last before he got caught?
  • How many people have been murdered by the current population of this casino?

Young is the big winner so far. He’s currently +7 points, Deeb is -3, and Katz is in the hole -4 as they prepare to break for dinner.

SHRPO $5 Million GTD Championship
Level 6: 300/600 with a 75 ante
Players: 821

DJ MacKinnon opened the cutoff to 1,500, and he was called by an opponent in the blinds.

The flop was QdTc3c. The blind checked, MacKinnon continued for 2,200, and his opponent check-raised to 5,450. MacKinnon called. The turn was the Qc. It checked to MacKinnon again, he bet 4,000, and his opponent called. The river was the 8d, and MacKinnon moved all in for 20,325. His opponent tank-called to put him at risk.

MacKinnon showed Kc5c, winning the pot and doubling up with a king-high flush.

In the big blind, Bryn Kenney was involved in a three-way pot on the turn of a Qs9h9d5c board. He led the betting for 6,500 into a pot of about 10,000. Haim Nagar and Richard Freire both called.

The river was the Kd. Kenney had 16,150 chips, and he bet 15,000 of them. Both opponents called to see a showdown.

Kenney tabled Jh9c for trip nines, but Nagar showed QhQc, winning the pot and tripling up with queens full.

Kenney was left with just 1,150 chips, though he did quadruple up on the next hand.

Championship Day 1: Aditya Prasetyo Climbing the Counts

SHRPO $5 Million GTD Championship
Level 5: 250/500 with a 50 ante
Players: 808

Aditya Prasetyo (Cambridge, MA)
Aditya Prasetyo (Cambridge, MA)

A player in early position limped in, Aditya Prasetyo raised to 1,500 a couple seats over, the small blind called, and the limper called the remainder to create three-way action.

The flop was Kd8d2c. It checked to Prasetyo, who bet 2,300, and only the small blind called. Heads up now, the turn was the 3s. The small blind checked, Prasetyo bet 4,500, and the small blind called. The river was the 2d. The small blind checked for a third time, and Prasetyo set him all in for about 9,500 effective. The small blind mucked with some visible frustration, and Prasetyo won the pot.

A native of Cambridge, Massachusetts, Prasetyo has become a dangerous player over the past few years, and he’s posted some significant results in this building. Earlier this year, he finished as the runner-up to Chino Rheem in the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown Finale, earning nearly a half-million dollars. He’s off to a good start in this Championship, as well, now sitting with more than twice his starting stack.

Aditya Prasetyo – 72,000

Championship players are back in their seat after a brief respite from the grind. We found the five biggest stacks in the room and the each sit with over 100,000.

Pablo Fernandez leads them all, coming back to 140,900 out front with Harold Klein sitting in second. There’s still plenty of time to catch them and a lead now is not indicator of future Championship success.

Pablo Fernandez – 140,900 (470 bb)
Harold Klein – 116,425 (388 bb)
Brandon Hall – 111,100 (370 bb)
Alex Smith – 104,775 (349 bb)
Jonathan Kamhazi – 100,800 (336 bb)
