We knew the Purple Chip Bounty was going to be big with the combination of huge money, a Sunday schedule, and players losing their stack in the Championship.
There are 170 entries in Event 40 before the first break, good enough to more than double the $100,000 guarantee between the regular prize pool and bounties.
The second Purple Chip Bounty tournament on the schedule gets underway at 4 pm with a big crowd expected from those who fell short in the Championship. The $1,700 buy-in tournament has a $100,000 guarantee and a two-day structure.
Players start with 20,000 deep stacks and the first 12 levels last 30 minutes, going up to 40 from Level 13 forward. Late registration is available until the start of Level 9 at 8:55 pm following the 40-minute dinner break and players may re-enter a single time if they bust their first shot.
They will continue playing through 15 levels and survivors at that point will bag their chips for a Day 2 return tomorrow at 2 pm.
