We found Abbey Daniels back in today’s field and one of those successful local female players mentioned earlier. She’s a South Florida grinder with $499,000 in career earnings and a handful of tournament wins.

Daniels made the Championship final table in the 2011 version of this series when it was taped by the World Poker Tour for TV broadcast. She finished fourth at a table that included Alan Bari, Tommy Vedes, Blair Hinkle, Justin Zaki, Curt Kohlberg, and eventual winner Taylor von Kriegenbergh.

The promise of a big prize pool is drawing players from around the world while our loyal base of players continue to make up the large majority of the field. Today’s flight climbed over 400 entrants before Level 2 was complete and continues to grow at a nice rate.

Daren Stabinski is one of the successful players we see on a regular basis. He’s earned six Seminole Hard Rock Poker tournament wins including the 6-Max title in this series two years ago. Stabinski is just shy of $400,000 in career earnings and a deep run will put him over.

The final flight of the Main Event is on a faster pace than the first two flights and we have 350 in the mix at the start of the second level. The prize pool is already over $1.25 million with $1.5 in sight.

Kathy Liebert is back for a second day and brings one of the best résumés in poker. We’re used to seeing some of the best female poker players in the world but Liebert takes it to a new level. She has 28 career tournament wins, a WSOP bracelet, and six WPT final tables.

Liebert’s $6 million in career earnings had her atop the women’s all-time money list for a long time until Vanessa Selbst started winning multiple bracelets.

Beginning November 30, 2015 and running through January 12, 2016, Seminole Hard Rock Poker ran a Click to Win promotion giving away free Lucky Hearts Poker Open $1,100 WPTDeepStacks Main Event seats. To enter, contestants simply visited www.shrpo.com/win and clicked the corresponding ‘Click to Enter’ button.

The contest drew three winners — Harshit Patel, Richard McCart and Brian Phillis. Harshit, who flew in from Oregon, is among the field in today’s Flight C. McCart, meanwhile, tried his luck in Flight A before busting shy of a Day 2 berth. The third winner, Phillis, was unable to attend the Main Event.

SHRP is running a similar contest for the upcoming Showdown series slated March 31 through April 20. That contest runs January 25 until April 10 with the grand prize winner earning a $3,500 seat in the WPT SHRP Showdown Championship. Main Event action is underway with players taking their last shot at bagging up chips for Day 2. We have 194 players already set to return on Sunday with today likely to provide the biggest number of the three starting days.

The first two flights drew 966 entrants to leave us 65 away from hitting the $1,000,000 guaranteed prize pool, and we had well over that before play even kicked off.

The prize pool will continue to climb until we close down registrationat 7:30. This is already the biggest WPT DeepStacks event in their history, now we’ll see how big it can get.
