Event 9 Day 1D: Vitor Coelho Misses Everything

$570 No Limit Hold’em Deep Stack Re-Entry
Level 7: 250/500 with a 75 ante
Flight 1D Entries: 422

The cutoff raised to 1,025 and Vitor Coelho, winner of the opening $350 No Limit Hold’em Re-Entry, called on the button. The small blind three-bet to 3,125 and only Coelho called.

The flop was Qs8d7s and the small blind bet 5,400. Coelho raised and the small blind moved all in for 28,500 and Coelho called.

Coelho tabled 10s8s, good for middle pair and a flush draw and had plenty of outs against the small blind’s AcAh. The turn was the Jc, to give Coelho a gutshot straight draw as well, but the river was the Kc and Coelho missed all of his outs to give the small blind a double up.

Vitor Coelho – 6,200

Event 9 Day 1D: Matt Ehrlich vs. His Poker Hero

$570 No Limit Hold’em Re-Entry
Level 7: 250/500 with a 75 Ante
Flight 1D Entries: 415

Matt Ehrlich opened to 1,200 in early position, and SHRP Team Member Jessica Dawley three-bet to 4,000 a few seats over. This is the friendliest table in the room, and when action folded back around to Ehrlich, he started to chat. At one point he said to Dawley, “You’re one of my poker heroes.”

“You have terrible poker heroes,” Jon Borenstein chimed in, drawing a laugh from the table.

After about 30 seconds of back-and-forth banter, Ehrlich moved all in for 16,975, and Dawley called to put him at risk. “There are only a few hands that beat me,” Ehrlich said.

“She has one of them,” someone at the table correctly surmised.

Ehrlich: QsQh
Dawley: KdKc

The board came AhAdQdJcQc, and even Dawley had to laugh at the run-out. Ehrlich doubled up with quad queens.

Matt Ehrlich – 34,900 (70 bb)
Jessica Dawley – 26,500 (53 bb)

$570 No Limit Hold’em Re-Entry
Level 3: 150/300 with a 25 Ante
Flight 1D Entries: 285

The evening flight is off to a hot start, with nearly 300 players already registered. Table 47 is the toughest table in town right, with Jon Borenstein, Zo Karim, and Jessica Dawley seated all in a row in seats five through seven. And they’re just part of that eight-handed table full of heroes.

Karim was involved in an early pot, opening to 400 from early position. The big blind defended, and the flop came AsTdTc. Karim continued for 200, his opponent check-called, and the turn was the Ad. Both players checked. The river was the Kd, and the small blind checked again. Karim bet 1,100, and his opponent folded.

Karim flashed AhAc as the dealer pushed him the pot, earning a tiny increase with quad aces.

Zo Karim – 20,500 (137 bb)
