Broadcaster Randy Moller
Broadcaster Randy Moller (seated) was called out by the emcee for his early elimination.

One of the earliest eliminations during the first level was retired NHL player and now-broadcaster Randy Moller, who is an announcer for the Florida Panthers.

Moller had gotten short and was all in from the small blind for 2,800 with Qc8c, and he needed to improve to stay alive against the AsJh of Nickie Irvine on the button.

The board came 7d7s2s9c2h, and Irvine won the pot with her ace to eliminate Moller.

Nickie Irvine
Nickie Irvine scored the early knockout by eliminating Randy Moller.

Of course, as this is a charity event, there are unlimited re-entries while registration remains open (until 10:00 pm or so). So Moller re-entered and found himself back in the field sitting at the same table as recently retired NHL goalie Roberto Luongo, who has played a respectable amount of poker in his career in addition to 11 seasons with the Florida Panthers.

The field is near the end of Level 3, with 344 entries showing on the tournament clock.

Retired NHL Player Roberto Luongo
Retired NHL Goalie Roberto Luongo (seated, center) is having fun here in the early levels. Luongo played for the Florida Panthers for 11 seasons.
