This one wasn’t getting away.

After a runner-up finish in Event 5 where the cards turned against him time and time again, Daren Stabinski moved up one spot this time around in Event 12 and claimed the title.

With only one major hand going against him the whole way on the final table, Stabinski accumulated enough chips to convince his opponents to decide to take a four-way chop and Stabinski couldn’t have been happier to redeem himself after the earlier disappointment.

“I was so unlucky the other night and Day 3 didn’t go my way but I felt like tonight was my night.  I felt good and had such a big chip lead going into the final table it was fairly easy to run it over.”

Stabinski was very impressed with the rest of the table including 18 year-old Blake Ovind.  “I have a history with “Al”(Santana Noronha).  We’ve been playing together for ten years and the young guys were cool too especially the 18-year old.”

Stabinski was tempted to play it out and Ovind was hesitant to chop as well but in the end they decided it was the best decision.  “I wanted to play it out but I wasn’t giving up too much on the ICM chop and didn’t want to double up Al.  I was very happy to just lock up the trophy.”

And of course, Stabinski will be back in this series having already locked up a seat in the Main Event.  Everyone had better watch out because after a first and second here so far, Stabinski should be one of the favorites to take down that championship as well.

Congratulations to our Event 12 Champion Daren Stabinski!
